This would interesting. In for results.

I would honestly go for the 5th gen interior, over the 4th gen if your going to go through all the work.

Why bother installing an interior thats basically the same, go for something better. If I was gonna redo my interior I'd customize the whole thing and new leather is always nice.

He's not really considering it, it's just that his purpose in life is to comment on JDM cars whenever possible.

alright folks im gonna start off buy saying that the front seat rails had to be modified to fit im gonna ask him how and what he did.the back seat (the part you rest you back on not the seat ) does'nt sit as flush like the standard 3rd gen seat might have to take a cookie and take some of the foam off.We had to use two small bracket to mount the back part on.witch will be covered by my and rack. The front seats sit up a tad bit higher than the standard 3rd gen seat (even with seat seat lowered).I didnt get the center console but it still is a thought. another thing to get used to is seeing the rear headrest in the rearview mirror a couple of times i had to do a double take. The set up make's the car pop being that my car is black with tan leather and no tints

ok folks i have the front passenger seat mounted. they are slightly crooked a couple of washer will straighten that out. again as state before the brackets were modified. I.i.n.m the i30's floor is flat the 3rd gen isn't. you could also still use the original 3rd power seat buttons to move the seat fore and aft but i cannot recline it though (minor fix) Im also planning on mounting the auto dimming rearview mirror. after this setup is complete i planning finding the first gen M45 mirrors either those or the i think the 3rd gen? Q45 mirrors. while i had the interior apart i ran all of my mood lighting after that finish powdercoat key elements under the hood

I'd consider installing the console for the cupholders.

GR2's ride good with the drop, barely any body roll as well

hoping someone knows if the A31 chassis is similar enough to 3rd gens to use those parts

lol noooowhere close. a) wrong side. b) RWD car with big tunnel vs FWD car with small tunnel. c) different platform.

making an interior fit a car it doesn't belong in isn't as simple as wishing and hoping the parts into place... if the holes aren't in the same place then you'll be spending all month fabricating arms and hangers and tabs and whatnot to give yourself the right hardpoints IF the shape even physically fits.

.... probably not. FWD car = wheels closer to door than RWD car.. if you want an A31 THAT much then buy one!

Are you attempting to somehow put the I30 dashboard and door panels into the 3rd gen?

If not, and not to take away from what you've done, I don't really see how this is an interior "conversion"

The rear seat fits surprisingly well.. Got any better (brighter) pics of it? Particularly the sides where it meets the doors etc? Might be a viable option for 3rd gen torn up leather rears like you said

My rears are rolled and pulled just a bit and the front isn't rolled per se but I did use a rubber mallet and hit that inner lip up just a bit

the back door doesn't rub against the door the seats and it doesn't hinder the doors from opening and closing

Wow that is surprising. Good find!

Is that the i30 lower seat too?

I like that it's got headrests. I've always liked full headrests on rear seats. Is there a gap between the back of the seat and the package tray?

Package tray is actually an old-school domestic term. I grew up with hot-rods/old cars so that's what I grew up calling it.

"Rear deck" is a relatively modern term but they are essentially interchangeable

Hey Kountz43, what type of modifications were needed on your front seats? My rear seats had definately seen better days but, so I was at my local yard and got the rear sears from a 99' Limited Edition I30 and was going to get the fronts but wasn't too sure if they were going to be an exact fit...

Kountz, I hope your feeling better. I think I"m going to through caution to the wind this weekend and go back and pick up the front seats and try to figure out how to the rails will need to be modified...

Okay, please post pics when you can... I ended up not throwing caution to the wind, because I ended up buying another VE, but this one is a 92 VE5! So I still have to get the front seats! I may go to the local pull a part tomorrow, I know they had a an I30 the last week when I was there, but I probably need to go back to the junkyard I got the rear seats from, because they were from and I30 Limited, so the center part of the leather is preforated.
