check fuses.
check illumination circuit.

have you messed with the stereo recently?
check for shorts in the tail light assembly.
remove each bulb and test each socket individually.
do your tag/bumper lights work? they're on the same circuit. look for issues with them as well.

Your dash lights and tail lights run off the same fuse. I had it go out few years back was just a fuse.

another blown fuse member here. mine ended up being worse than a just a fuse, but not horribly bad. took my car down for a couple of days, at least for night driving.

In mine this was the steering column light switch, the copper contacts had become burnt and one wasn't bending in properly. Also caused high beam issues.

I had the same problem with intermittent blown fuses. So far, it turned out to be one of the side corner lights (tail and cornering lights) shorting out. I don't know which one...I changed all four.

Check your timing control unit. Its behind the anti-theft deterrant system unit on the left side of the steering column.

Apparently yeah the number plate lights will blow the fuse before the globe, stupid but I just finished fixing it after three hours of stuffing around.

That's how they behave when the switch gives out, the copper contacts inside the switch aren't making contact. You can clean/bend them to repair but its a lot less of a stuff around to just replace. No more than 8 or 9 screws.

It's a highly technical process of doing things that don't need to be done first, and then focusing on the actual problem

Indeed - the highly technical bit refers to the acquiring of the necessary reading skills and to understand what was said.

I read all posts multiple times. Your argument was that the voltage drops were caused by the switch resulting in a loss of light output. I explained why the voltage drops are not caused by the switch, citing multiple reasons why, including actually testing a switch. You resorted to name calling. I thought we were having a logical discussion, obviously you were taking it personally.

I have never ever, not once blamed a newly cleaned switch assembly for diminished light output in any of the threads we had a discussion in - I will state again what I posted before that thread got screwed up and that was (not identical)

"I measure a 260lux light output change from a nominal 2400lux output without the relays in the light circuit and thats with a newly cleaned light switch"

But please, dont believe me - ask the moderators to go and dig up the actual wording from those hidden posts so as to confirm the exact content.

I never questioned the obvious causes (connections/wiring) you quoted, but you continue to once again try and distort what I said so that it suits your purposes ............. whatever the hell that is.

As I said before

................ and for the record - you still have not acquired that skill

Purpose? I made a simple statement about it being obsessive and you got offended. What is it that you think I didn't read or understand? Rewire the switch to the relays instead of bulbs, get a whopping .8v more to the lamps. I just think it's redundant and obsessive. I concentrate on adding electrical systems to my car, not upgrading ones that already work to my expectations. As I said originally. Do what you want, it's your car. I'll do the same.
