Cluster Question...

I looked around didn't see and answer for my questions so yeah if you are about to comment and say read the threads make sure u read this...

Sup guys... questions is does the cluster have a fuse that could cause it to stay stuck on 0 mph?

Went to the part store and they guy said the speed sensor would be about $130 but to check the fuse first... but fuse would that be?

No fuse for the speedometer, you'll have to replace the speed sensor, or more likely the speedometer itself.

Change the sensor first or the meter?

If you don't have a speed sensor code, then I would recommend changing the cluster fisrt.

Does the odometer still work? if yes then its probably the gauge itself, I have this problem in both of my 92's - odometer and tach work, speedo needle reads either 0, 145+ or dances around. Someone posted a thread regarding a fix for a bouncing tach needle (resoldering something on the circuit board behind the cluster), maybe that will work for the speedo as well

I have a similar problem. My speedo works fine most of the time. but i believe it is off by a couple mph and it likes to bounce around when its windy or wet outside. I've read about the bouncing tach and how you need to just solder it. So, its come down to tear it apart and try my best to solder, buy a new cluster or buy a new speed sensor.

sure. it's not a part that "goes bad". I would recommend printing off the speed sensor test page, and testing it before you buy it (when possible), just to be sure.

The speed sensor most definitely can go bad.

If it can't go bad then why would I need to change it? Ive changed the cluster and it all does the samething. so the next step was to change the speed sensor at least thats what was said to me on here.

I will see if that is I hope its not the connection to it that's bad.
