New Struts/Springs and axle. Which is best?
Hey guys, i havent been in this section for a year..or since i bought the 4th gen...i still have my 94 maxima, and still love it like the first day i got her. She's still parked in my yard, i start her up every few days. I want to put her on the road asap, i've been hurting inside watching her sit there.
Before i register her, i'd like to put new struts and springs and replace both front axles. Whats the best brand and where do i buy them from? I want to get the best ride possible, since i love this car dearly, and would never sell her..
I'm open to all opinions
Tx

Koni and Tokico are discontinued, youre looking at KYB GR2 and a few other brands, you can get KYB GR2 easily on Ebay though
for best ride i would try to find some Eibach springs but theyre discontinued, you can still get Ksport but they might be too low for some peoples comfort

if its Tokico struts for a 3rd gen, email first and make 100% sure that they REALLY have them in stock. last June i tried a bunch of Ebay sellers, and none really had Koni or Tokico in stock and i kept getting refunds, one seller said "all listed items are 100% in stock" and sure enough, 1 week later "sorry, we were just informed these were discontinued" when it was even old news then
i myself checked almost all of the US and Canada, as well as a buddy who is a mechanic/has tons of connections and the guy at Shox.com called his connections, nobody has a new set leftover. you would have to find used ones which is again near impossible still

I just put GR2's all the way around on my 89, the ride is nice and feels good in the corners, though I doubt I drive as aggressively as some here. I bought some Cardone Select axles from rockauto, brand new with no core return. Axles bolted in perfectly, all I had to do was knock off the ABS rings and they were good to go. I can't speak for the fitment on an ABS car though.

pretty much, thats the way im going. if you want to go low get Ksport GT springs, the GT's are a 2.2" front and 2.0" rear drop. i saw a set on Ebay about a month ago so you may be able to snag a set still

Good news: you can still get koni from shox.com
Bad news: they say it's a 5-6 weeks wait.
Im about to buy a set and just wait it out.
I suggest contacting them directly instead of pushing through an order online.
Thanks

I also had to go with GR-2s, not installed yet. How's your ride? Is it stiff? Bouncy?

This is what they emailed me:
"$501.76 for the set of 4 F&R
Fastest way to you is to pay Koni in KY their $20.00 dropship fee so when they come in they go straight to NY from KY, otherwise free shipping, no tax."

Why would it take 5-6 weeks if they had them in stock? Wonder what he means by "when they come in"
Hmm, wish we could determine now if this will actually pan out. If so I'd budget for them on payday

I still got my intrax springs brand new in the box and i havent installed them cuz i also need new shocks as well but are the kyb's as close to oem cuz im tired of having a stiff @ss ride and feeling every damn bump? Which shocks should i get with intrax?

KYB's are just OEM replacements. Not sure how they got the reputation over the past couple years as sort of a "budget" performance strut (wishful thinking?). Hell, even Tokicos arent really ideal. Tokicos were only originally just considered "okay" if you couldn't afford the Konis.

Isnt that some sort of false advertisement if they sell them knowing they dont have any in stock?
