93 SE BOSE System problem

Few days ago I can hear my sounds even without the antenna mast because I'm still waiting for the replacement that time. Then it can't pickup any radio signals at all (I use the seek function and it keeps on rolling the numbers). I attached the mast, it goes up and down very well and it can pick up signals now. But the problem is, there is no sound at all. I even tried playing a cassette but no good. Any solutions? The Bose control panel is perfectly working just no sound produced. Anyway, I don't know if this has any connection with this but the digital clock doesn't display time.

well, it IS almost 20 years old...
iirc, there's a fuse dedicated to the Bose amps.
no hissing/static?

No hissing nor static. It's like no volume even I turn it all the way to MAX.

IIRC thete is a fuse that is plugged into the backside of the headunit.

And one thing, I was working in the car while having the stereo on even without any sound (although it's in max vol). 5 mins later, it did work but it's too loud. So while I turn down the volume, there is like a grounded scratching sound while I'm turning it until the stereo won't produce any sound again.

Check for a blown fuse below steering wheel. I believe the Bose also carried one on the back of the unit

This sounds like the problem is the volume control potentiometer. It is a variable resistor and is what the plastic control **** is attached to. They are replacable by someone that can take the radio apart and knows how to solder.

pots can be cleaned without disassembly. just need to get the proper cleaner.
if the speakers are putting out sound (even if it's not the kind you want), that pretty much rules out the fuse/amps.
at this point, it's likely your 20 year old radio decided to take a poopie on it's self. if that's the case, best bet is a new-2-u Bose, or upgrade to a better, new head unit.

sometimes its cheaper to go with an aftermarket headunit and harness. I had a pioneer running on my bose speakers for 2 years without any problems. If you still decide to fix it i know someone that fixed mine for $200 a few years ago, i can look up his website for you. But honestly its better to go aftermarket.

It will work. Just make sure you buy the wiring harness that plugs into the bose's harness. Then it's pretty much reading the color codes from the dual harness and connecting to the after market harness.

9 out of 10 the harness will be the same color/stripe and may have the function written on them (left speaker/right speaker) etc.

Just don't cut up the factory harness!

Also you'll need either a cup holder or in my case a pocket to fill the little empty space. I believe a universal single din pocket should do the job.

Is this the one? What else do I need to install this to my 93 SE/Bose?

i was being very facetious about sony, especially the explode series.
Any single- or double-din stereo will work fine.
I recommend getting a stereo with 2 or 3 sets of preamp outs. it'll make installing and using the Bose speakers easier and better for your system than an amp bypass (more explanation than I wanna type, but i'll explain later if you want).
the only other thing you'll need will be a stereo harness (as mentioned before), and some patience (oh, and a philips #2 screwdriver, and electrical tape, or shrink tubing).
