Slow to fill with fuel

My son and I just completed a 1300 mile trip in our 1994 Maxima, no issues other than this one -

I can no longer fill it up with the pump putting out more than a trickle!

Used to be able to set the fuel pump on full and wait until it filled, no longer, any ideas?

Worst part about this whole ordeal is this. The first fuel stop, I had to pee, and pee bad.

I decided to fuel up first, and when I had to manually and slowly fill the tank, well, doing the dance and pumping the fuel slow just did not work out that well.

My kid will never let me live it down....

I've rarely seen this happen but on the 3G Maxima there's a little vent hose connected to the filler neck. I would look to see if that hose isn't pinched or maybe clogged with something. If you look underneath the rear drivers side by the filler neck tube you'll see a little rubber hose connected. The hose is the size of the hose that's connected to the fuel filter in the engine bay. Just replace it if necessary cause it's cheap enough. Good Wrenching.

i think you have the same issue that shootingxblankz has or similar. Something wrong with the filler line.

I've got a 15 year old son, my youngest, and he got a text from me saying to pack up for a few days, that's all.

We live in St. Joe, Missouri and we left at a little after 6:00AM on whatever day it was we left.

Headed to the Huntsdale exit just west of Columbia MO for a break with his grandparents, about a half hour or so, then we were on the road again, he had no idea to where.

At 12:35 we pulled into Akers Ferry

Went in, asked when the next float was, they said 1:00, nice when a plan comes together!

We had made a quick stop in Salem earlier to try and find a motel, we lucked out and landed a room at "Ranch Motel" and after the canoe trip, we stayed there.

Next morning, headed to Ha Ha Tonka State Park via backroads. Then messed around the Lake of the Ozarks area, exploring lots of roads, headed up to Columbia via backroads again, good day.

Next morning, we headed to St. Louis to the Zoo, the Arch and a automobile museum that was closed. Headed north via backroads again to Clarksville, MO to visit relatives, as well as Louisiana then back to Columbia via backroads again.

Next morning, we left Columbia and went home to St. Joe, again, checked and total miles were right at 1300.

Car performed flawlessly. I only wish the suspension was tighter and that the radio worked.

Thanks for the input - I'll check it out as soon as possible and report back.

I'm just glad to hear about another 3rd gen making a trip like such without dying out on the road. Hope to do something similar in the near future.

I've been running my 3G about a 100 miles a day. She has some suspension adjustments to made to the new front end I just installed. Plus I have to finish the exhaust(headers/mani studs are the only thing not new) when I get my OBX headers. Regardless she fires up immediatly no matter the weather and I trust she'll make it where ever I need/want to go. Half Of my 3G has been replaced with new parts and I'm still going until I get to the body. The body looks really good now...the paint is great, not many little dings in it. I'm going to hook up a Stillen kit and paint when I'm done with everything else. I've been told more than once that I'm crazy for spending so much time/money on a 20 year old car, even if she still looks good. She now has 160thou on the odo. For a 20 year old car that's not bad but to most of the people where I live that's more miles than any car they ever kept. I love my Max! She's my first ride back from regaining my drivers license. My friend has an '89 SE with 400thousand on the odo.
