my 93 SE lacks power(help)
I have a 93 SE with the dohc motor,,I have 217,000 miles and seems to run good except doesn't really have any power,I checked the ohms on my injectors all are 11 to 12,and dose not seem to have a miss and its running on all 6 cylinders so where do I look next,I do have my vtc's grounded so I dont have that clacking noise anymore, but I do have cracks in the front three coils is this my problem or maybe one of them,,maybe weak fuel pump or what else on our cars cause a power loss when the engine sounds ok,,,or is it just tired??
Replace those packs! My first VE ran on 4 cylinders when I bought it. Drove it 200 miles back home, replaced those injectors, ran better but still sluggish, replaced 2 cracked coil packs and it ran great...for about 10 minutes. So, the knock sensor was the primary cause of power deficiency, might be the same case in your situation, but hopefully it's just the cracked coil packs that are at fault.
Also when you ground the VTCs you lose low end power. As suggested replace coils. When you checked injector ohms did you remove upper plenum to check the 3 individually on the rear head? Get a WSP y-pipe with a high flow cat and change the spark plugs. Then you'll notice a difference.
Nm . hah. I just connected the 2 threads. Probably knock sensor as Hectic suggested and the other 2 items I suggested. If you want to get into the knitty gritty then you can go with Aaron's NWP spacers.
