Help!! No Emergency Brake

Just finished (okay so I'm not really finished) a rear brake job on my 89 GXE. The hydraulic system actuates the shoes against the drums just fine but the E-brake has no resistence on the handle... it just pulls straight up. Did I install the shoes backward? Any ideas on what I did wrong?

if you reset the adjusters on it, it can take a long time for them to readjust to the new clearances and stuff on your drums...

pull the parking brake several times (like 20-30 even).. pull it all the way up, then back down.. after a while it should catch up and get firm again.

Also make sure you still have brakes in general.. of you do, go for a SLOW drive aroudn the neighborhood and play with it until it resets itself.

parking brake cables just need adjusting- and that's assuming that you did the brake job right and got the parking brake reattached as it should be.
