'92 SE - Damn Fuel Lines Again

Has anyone else had to change the two rubber fuel lines multiple times on the T-Shaped adapter coming off of the fuel rail on their VE?
The two rubber lines and adapter are right near the VTC's on the passemnger side of the engine. For some reason the 5/16" fuel injected hoses from Autozone keep gioing bad! I just had to change these hoses out in February, and now again yesterday due to the rubber going bad and the gas smell in my cabin in the morning upon start up. This time it got so bad that the hoses were an off white color, and smoke was coming out of the engine.
Is this a case of cheap a** hoses from autozone? WTF???

Are you sure the hose you are buying is "fuel injection hose" as opposed to just "fuel hose"? There is a difference, and most parts stores idiots don't know the difference and frequently try to claim "fuel hose" will work "just fine".

what james said. I have never heard of fuel injection line failing that fast. If you are not buying stuff that is $4-$5/ft. then they are probably selling you regular fuel hose. Like James said most people that work at parts counters either don't know the difference between fuel hose and fuel injection hose or they don't care.

Hell, with some of my prior experience dealing with Autozone I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to pass off heater hose to him

to make sure you get the right hose you can buy a box of the pre sectioned stuff, I usually go to advanced auto so I am not sure what autozone has, here is what a box of what they sell at advanced.

FWIW, locally I get "Gates Fuel Injection Hose Multifuel 180psi CARB No. C-U-06-002 5/16 Inch" hose from O'Reillys or Advance Auto. It's not cheap, but nothing bothers this hose. I use more of their 3/8" hose, but same deal with quality - gasoline, race fuel, nothing hurts this hose and it doesn't leak later. Around here, they sell it by the foot.

Most likely they gave u the wrong hoses, i had the same issue when my gas line vent hose went out, autozone ended up giving me the wrong hose, and i had to do the job twice! Like someone else said they dont kno the difference between fuel hose and heater hose, i ended up getting the right hose from napa. Havent had any problems since

Just make sure you're paying 5-6$ PER FOOT. And you know you have the right stuff. O'reilly's is rated at 180 psi. Where as Carb hose is usually 30-50 psi.
