Rattling/knock in engine (Video)
Today we were testing the compression on the #5 Cylinder and started the car without the spark plug in, then with the compression tester in. The following rattling notice started right after. Please see video.
What could be the problem?
Thanks

Thanks, it sounds like its coming from under the #5 spark plug. I've already got the intake, rear head out. Will continue to take apart until i get to the bottom..
Any good links/advice as i continue?? And also where do you guys get your gaskets from and what are the names?
Thanks

Compression test done how? .................... just screwing the guage in there and turning the motor? .................. or did you also "add a bit of oil" to check the rings?
If it wasn't knocking before and you added oil during the compression test you may have hydro-locked that cylinder by adding too much oil ................ and if that's the case, bearing/piston/conrod/wristpin damage is at the order of the day - stop running it as soon as possible to prevent possible transfer of damaged bearing material through the oil to the galleries and eventually the whole motor

sounds like you dropped something in there to me. considering how hard it is to see the spark plug holes on a VG, it's quite possible a small screw fell down the hole while you were working on getting the spark plug out and the tester in.
since you already have one head off, pull the other and start looking for damage. with a noise like that, you're going to find something pretty quick.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to chime in.
I couldn't find any sign of damage under the rear head. We will take off the front tomorrow.
Since I'm already so much into it, is there any performance things I should do? Or just built it back up to stock and keep her that way?

Me? - I would first want to know exactly what is making that noise and what caused it in the first place. If you "ONLY" stuck a compression meter in the plug hole this cannot possibly be the outcome..................
Only once you know the damage can one see what is viable/preferable imo
