Noise

So I went on a drive today through the Purdue campus and while on the drive I felt a small vibration in the shift ****, so I turned off the radio and heard a wonderful grone in the engine at a idle. But it ceases to make the noise as the rpm goes up and doesn't effect performance or response of the engine. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Possibly a tranny or motor mount.

Well last night I took off the belts to narrow down any of the accessories and found it is my alternator that is making the grone and the vibrations. I've never heard a car make such a noise, let alone an alternator.

Glad you found it. Alternators do make noise when they are not in their freshest form. Id replace an alternator making noise and vibrations. Might be trying to tell you it's on it's way out.

Sadly, I dont really have the cash to replace it. One thing I found that you purchase the individual bearings for them, which I might do being that it seems to still be charging. But testing will come next before I buy anything.
