e36 conversion

i might be beating a dead horse here, but i just did the e 36 conversion on my 89max(for 150 oem, including plugs in 2.5 hrs) and im wondering about the "gap" everyone is talking about. is it the differece in height from the hl to the hood, or the depth of the headlight as compared to the hood. i test fitted the lamp as much as possible, but they are much squarer than the oem, causing the depth gap, as well as a small part of the bumper weatherstrip to show(right in the middle. to minimize the deph gap i have the lights stick out a little by the markers, but i was wondering if there was a way to minimize all of that. i noticed that the lamp is not as tall as oem, so i raised it up a bit( gap on botton, not the top). ill have pics as soon as i can upload them, all in all it looks nice, but if i cant get them to sit right im going to have to cut up the hood. by the way, i used the bmw mount panel because i couldnt free up the screws in the max one and it seemed to work fine, esier to cut up, and i can still adjust the lights, right now they are pointed at the sky!, ill have to adjust them tomorrow.

hmm.. thats interestaing actually.. how did you use the BMW brackets and make em fit in our car?? also how did the corner snap in now?

yea thats the problem with the BMW lights, they do not fit perfect, so there is that gap, and the gap under the hood. ive re worked mine a few times to try and get rid of that, ive got it pretty good by now, but itll never be perfect.

one of these days inthe futur when i feel like spendign money, ill buy the Euro lights, and remove tha glass, (cannot remove the cover onthe USA ones) and make cover to go over the lights that are just like the covers for the OEM lights.

i cut off the three mounting tabs on top, the marker mounting tab up to the where the hl mounts up and cut part of the inside round edge off as well to match the curve of the upper tie bar. , they are mounted on the side by the maxima holes, but just regular screws into the bmr mount panel, and on the inside with a screw as well. the marker lamp actually screws into the top of the mount panel, but the r/s one broke so i had to make a bracket. im going to make fiberglass covers for it so it looks nice, and allows a place for it to mount to. the only dowmside is that in order to angle the lights, i have to take out the assy, adjust it and reinstall it and see if its good. il get the pics on asap, just have to transfer them from my work laptop then onto this one.

i had to cut it down at the sides, dunno if u had to or not, then i drilled a hole on the side where it usually mounts and screwed it sideways into the bmw hl panel. the grille is temp for now becase i want to put a billet grill on, or make a fiberglass on with the big wire mesh in it( right now i have the chicken wire mesh in painted black, aling withthe outside)
