I just read that Jacobs Electronics has just made an aftermarket DIS system for the VE and the like engines. Might wanna start there. The price is somewhere in the $400-$500 range, I believe.

There are other ways to waste money. 1 is to send it to me . Seriously if your aren't pushing a big shot of nitrous or forced induction there is no reason to upgrade the ignition. Don't believe the hype at stock or sub 300hp power levels the stock ignition is fine. Besides 400rwhp 300zxTT's have the same ignition system as the VE, however they don't have to upgrade theirs so you do.

HKS makes a Twin Power unit for Max's, but I can't figure what it's supposed to do for an electronic ignition. VE's have 6 coils and virtually no ignition wires except what connects the coil to the plug boot on the end.

Last I heard, distributorless coil-on-plug ignition systems were pretty good and powerful right out of the box.

Ignition upgrades are more for the realm of traditional ignition systems like the VG. Then again, doing upgrades on late model cars probably aren't as noticable as upgrading old American cars. Lots of newer cars already have fairly powerful ignition systems (like GM's HEI system from back in the 80's).
