Been through Stickies, still need help.

I have a door lock problem on my 89 max. I've read all through the stickies, but still no luck. I bought this car about a year ago, and the power door locks were not working when I bought the car. I've finally changed my o2 sensor, tps, fixed the broken manifold studs, and put in a new MAF, and the car is running GREAT. Now, I'm bored, so I figured I'd tackle the door locks. Yesterday I replaced the time control unit (white box behind theft control). I was really banking on that being the problem, but it wasn't. I also replaced the switch in the drivers side armrest about a month ago. It worked fine, but the buttons were completely worn and you couldn't read them, and I found one in the junkyard that was prestine, so I switched them out. Locks didn't work with either switch. So what else could it be? The stickies don't really mention 89's. Does my car have a door lock timer or not? Some diagrams say yes, some say no. The ones that say yes indicate it's the small grey box right in front of the cruise control assy. But I've been told that grey box is the A/T module. I'm all misconbobbulated. Can someone please shine some light.

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention I have NO "click" sound when pushing the lock/unlock button. No sound at all.

Door lock timer is the small grey box.

And you're sure the 89 maxima has a door lock timer? I don't mean to question you, but I'm 90% sure I saw in one of Greeny's posts that the 89-90 didn't have a door lock timer. Do you know where I can get a pdf of the FSN for my vehicle. Autozone.com didn't have one.

Well from doing some searching it seems that no matter what year you have they all have door lock timers under the kick panel.

OK. I'll try replacing the part that looks similar to a door lock timer but only has one plug. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the help maximo.

The '89s don't have a door lock timers. I know that for sure since I've tried to swipe one from a clean '89 SE at the junkyard only to be stymied upon removing the panel and everything. Thats probably why the OP can't find it.

Power door locks are controlled by the master window switch on 89-91. There is no door lock timer interfering. If they refuse to work with any master switch, it's either caused by an incomplete switch system or another wiring problem. Check all 4 window switches.
