I'd say take it off but there's no telling what the trim looks like underneath. Good luck getting the adhesive off too.

Personally, I don't think it looks good, but it might look worse when you take it off.

you might peel off some in a place like the vent to see if it's gross under there. If you can find a car with a decent interior at a boneyard, all of those parts are pretty easy to replace.

I'd just leave it on, not a huge fan but someone paid a couple hundred for it

If you decide to take it off I'd do what Chris said and find replacement parts

looks like an old woodtrim.com dash kit.
I had an aluminum kit from them... The adhesive on there is so strong, you'll never get that ish off without destroying the trim underneath.

I would suggest going to the junkyard and get replacements for all the involved pieces. it'll save you tons of hassles in the long run.

That sucks for me. How about I take it out and sand down very little and spray it with interior paint from auto parts store.

as long as you don't plan on trying to match the interior dash color of that 20yr old dash I think it could work.. still would be easier to replace pieces from boneyard as others have said. Stuff like that is usually not what people look for on a car so I would likely be there if you went.

Plastidip maybe? Then you can peel it off if you don't like how it looks.

Just doesn't look right, like it doesn't belong or something. Does anyone know if they ever offered wood grain trim from the factory? I've never seen a 3rdgen with it.

It's an aftermarket kit, they used to cost $200-300ish. They had the wood and brushed aluminum style.

Looks like I got hear a little late.
You have to ask yourself the question, what are the main colors of my car?
The woodgrain is orangish yellow.
Your can probably have a black 3rd gen with a 2 tone black and yellow interior, black rims with yellow pimpstriping and the woodgrain would fit right in.
Or Tear it off.

paint it dark gray? along with a few other parts.

just don't paint the glove box handle or dash defroster vents, shifter plate,
horn or airbag pad,key ring, others i cant recall atm.

im still not sure i like painted window switch plates, gauge bezels,radio/climate plates,
center armrest's,etc.

i think some different colors would look good since my interiors like ALL black, i even sprayed the headliner black like 6 years ago because it was dirty anyway and i gets my smoke on( i used many cans of duplicolor fabric paint to the tune of @ 50 dollars,i should have bought dark suede ftw instead)....i like the tan\dark brown interiors(ive seen on a black se)

Kind of over done IMO, but would look a lot better than that wood trim.

I guess Matt and I had different kits. I've been through the CF kit and the brushed aluminum kit and neither were that hard to take off. When I peeled them up, most of the tape stuck to the dash kit and NOT the dash pieces themselves. I used a heat gun on the stuff that stuck to the dash and sort of "rolled" it off with my thumb. It was an hour or two of work but not bad at all.

Here was my brushed aluminum kit. I actually liked it except for the fact that in most lighting conditions it just looked like plexiglass with gray painted behind it or even just white panels and not brushed aluminum. I also thought it was too "busy" after a while and took the extra little panels off (like the ones around the steering wheel, in the center section of the middle dash piece, etc)

I actually don't think the wood looks all that bad, but I don't like it enough to care to keep it if it were my car. You're also missing some pieces like the shifter surround and the glove box handle. Would you believe my brushed kit actually came with a huge panel for the glovebox? needless to say I didn't put it on.

Now what REALLY looks awful is the fake dark burl wood dash kits on the 3rd gen..

So TonyJr you have a VE 5 eh?
