CAI & Y pipe or greddy cat-back?

Ok. I only have $600 dollars. I need a new exhaust system, but I am tired of my slow VG. I know if i get the CAI and Y pipe my car won't be running 10's or anything even close, but it real be a lot better with them. Plus i heard the CAI intake gives your car nice growl. I am not going to have money again until spring because I am a full time college student. So i am wondering what you guys think? Should I get the CAI and Y pipe and just get a cheap replacement muffler. Or should I just get the greddy cat and wait till april to get the CAI and Y pipe??

IMO, go with the CAI and Y first, then in the spring go for the Greddy and Cat....

Go for the CAI and Y pipe. After that do the JWT ECU and UDP or custom catback. The CAI, Y pipe and JWT ECU will be the 3 most noticeable and easiest bolt ons. Everything else nickels and dimes till you pull the heads and get hardcore .

Thanx you guys. I just ordered my CAI and cattman Y pipe. I had one more question. I heard that if you have a aftermarket Y pipe and greddy cat-back, the cat-back will sound too loud. But most of these guys had 5th gens. So I was wondering if any of you guys with a y and a greddy cat have any problems. Like if it is too loud.

Well, I have the CAI, Y, Cat, and GReddy. Lemme tell you that's a quite set-up. At idle all you can hear is the CAI sucking in air, and it's really quiet around town. At WOT it gets a deep extremely nice sounding growl, but I would by no means say it's loud. The CAI is louder at WOT than the actual exhaust. It's a very good setup. And there's no droning whatsoever...

Yeah, when I had just a universal Arospeed muffler on my car, I had a real annoying drone too.

Good Cat-back = no drone

DO it all

Just go slow, look for deals, people selling mods, you can get it all.

Through this forum and eBay, I got my Place Racing CAI for $150 (yes I know WSP is cheaper), I got my Cattman Y-pipe for $0 (Bought it for $100 and sold my stock one for $100), and my GReddy catback slightly used for the price of a new stock replacement and shipping ($129 + $20 shipping + $50 kickback to the owner).

I've had the Greddy cat-back for years now and looking back on it I would've got the Y-pipe first. I'm using a Stillen intake. The Y-pipe will probably come this spring. I also have the JWT ECU and a UDP. I'll probably add a new cat also. Intake, Greddy, UDP, Y-pipe, ECU and fresh cat = hang on!

Notice the date of the posts. Pezking was being stupid and decided to bring back this old thread. You won't be able to contact James that way b/c he has not been able to log into that name for quite some time. Search for James12345 and you will find him.

If you want to keep stock it is only like $25 for the lens and that is the whole sealed thing (glass and the reflector incase yours is rusted) all you do is put the bulb in the new peice and screw them back on.

call courtesy nissan.

Thanks for the info. I think I will call courtesy, I was told that they were a little over $50 for stock replacements. I think the bulb is ok, its the glass that is broken completely off and I think the wires got cut too. I'll have to do some investagating. Thanks
