Engine roar

Yesterday after driving 30mins home from work i pulled up to a stop sign i heard a really loud roar. i had the radio on and in my rear view mirror i saw a harley so i figure thats what made the noise. It also has a sound that sounds as if air was passing through something. When i got home i read up on some forums of what might cause this and from what i could tell i thought it to be the wheel bearings. This morning on my way to work it would just randomly make this noise while i was driving. After work today when i started the car up it made a really loud roar that almost sounded like a lawn mower just started and i hadn't even put it in gear yet. The noise is coming from the front passenger tire area. If the wheel baring is broken would it cause this noise at startup?

It's not the wheel bearings, as they only can produce noise during rotation. It's gotta be something near the engine. Try to duplicate the conditions and observe under the hood. Good luck!

Sounds like an exhaust leak of some kind. Could be at the manifold or the flex pipe. It might be a bad gasket. Sometimes exhaust leaks can be a bit intermittent at first, then get worse.

wheel bearings will growl increasingly louder with speed, what youre describing isnt a wheel bearing problem. as said its probably a exhaust leak, check your manifolds and flex pipe as said

Yeah, the flex section of the y pipe is pretty common.
