Rebuilt RE4F02A transmission - have steel spacer left over. Need help identify
Hi, we rebuilt a Nissan RE4F02A transmission out of a 93 Maxima GXL (SOHC) and after we put it back together there is a steel spacer left over. We’ve been through the Factory repair manual and parts catalog and cannot find this part shown or listed anywhere. I’ve attached two pictures in the hope that you might recognize it…
The coin next to the spacer/ sleeve is a nickel and the OD of the part is exactly the same as the nickel.
Would be exceptionally grateful for any help in figuring out where this piece should go.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Thats a nickle! Lol! Is the kit a OEM rebuild kit or some aftermarket? If aftermarket it could be something extra they integrated in the kit that may not be needed. If not theres gotta be something that was over looked.
Thanks for the replies. Great questions please keep them coming.
I'm originally from Sweden and keep mixing up the coin names lol. Corrected in the original post.
Definitely a RE4F02A, it is out of a GXL with sohc engine and parts diagram etc matches.
The part is used with wear pattern and definitely did not come out of the kit.
Sincerely,
Thomas

We did think it was a spacer for the parking pawl but we do have a short spacer in place there and there is no room for a taller one.
Didn't mention this originally but we found the part when we completed the assembly Saturday night, and then we spent all day Sunday taking it apart again looking for spots where this part could possibly fit...
When we had it apart again we eliminated every location we could think of. Including the whole clutch package. We found that the ingoing shaft can move in and out about the same distance as the spacer is thick BUT there is no room for it in between the ingoing and outgoing shafts.
Just a bit frustrating

THIS? The pic there is really bad...

P/N 32202 or 12330 - there is a difference between the manual and the auto one

And the winner is -- Nobody. After visiting two experienced transmission re-builders the consensus is that the part did not come from the transmission we are working on!
Where the part came from and what it is from we might never know. Maybe my ex-wife got into the garage and planted it to drive me crazy, or maybe some leprechauns...
Regardless the transmission is back together and we put it back in the car tonight. Still have to finish bolting it in, including the lovely cover behind the flex plate that gives access to the converter bolts. I think we were supposed to remove the exhaust but we didn’t want to so getting that cover off was a bit tight…
Thank you to all that contributed. Most suggestions very good and things that we had considered ourselves.

Thomas
