ok, my tranny has been getting worse, when i bought the car the dealer (the guy had it checked out before he sold it, thought it would help the price. . .yeah right) said it needed new shifter bushings. well the other night i was racing my buddy in his hybrid del sol and when i went to shift into 3rd i practially squashed the bushing. it felt like i moved it or something, anyway, it's beginning to happen more frequently on 2nd to 3rd gear hard shifts, and i'm thinking it's the bushings. Which bushings do i have to replace? and is there a poly kit or solid kit for em? these are supposed to be a weak spot on the 5spd maxima trannies. . . .

I think there's a kit you can buy from Nissan that has a bunch of little plastic bushings included. I dunno, I'm just trying to remember from a few months ago when someone else brought this up.

Ok I assume that the bushing your talking about is the one underneath the gear shift, which is beneath the shift boot, which is sort of like a metal plate around it and and a rubber bushing going across, if thats what you mean, then i had to change that when i got my short shifter, because when they were trying to install it, it was all torn already, and wouldnt hodl anymore. its not expensive, i think it was around $40 or so at a nissan dealership.
