I hope your not serious. But if you are ill be nice. You either have a vg30e or the vg30de both of which can be upgraded very easily. Boost is best way to get some real power. On the other hand no one makes kits. You will have to go custom. A skyline engine is Rear wheel drive. Your Maxima is Front wheel drive It would take extensive modifications and cost thousands and thousands to do. You can build your motor for 1/16th the price to do something like that.

Fixed. VG30DE is too big to fit on a 3rd gen bay.

One can also try a VG33E, but it has been rarely done with not much information available for a maxima.

Or turbo the VG. So many have claimed swapping in RB's, and have always failed to deliver on proof. There's only one member in this entire forum who could probably actually do it, but I digress. If you want serious power with your Maxima, turbo it. If you want to swap motors, get a different car.

only realistic options are turbo the VG30E, VG33 swap, or VE30DE swap and deal with a ton of wiring.

RB26 or other engines like that arent doable, you have to move the gas tank and exhaust to make room for the driveshaft and differential, move the firewall back most likely to fit a straight 6, etc etc. to swap engines like that you need a RWD car

only one person has actually RWD converted a Maxima, that should be proof enough its barely achievable

Do you want dual over head cams? Do you want to deal with timing belts or does it not bother you? Do you want direct ignition (coil packs) or do you enjoy the use of a distributor? Are you/not interested in variable valve timing? Things you should ask yourself. VG (you have) vs VE. VG33 is obtainable just outside the box. (something different)

I too once had really ambitious goals and brainstorming when i first got my care. i recommend taking it slow and learning the basics like oil changes..brakes..etc but yeah Ve30de is a nice swap to do and there is a write up on it too.

He can just put the engine in backwards to make it FWD. He can push the firewall back w a hammer to make it fit. I know somebody names Juan that can do it for you call me.

That my friend is a pic of my VE30DE. You can either go to a jy or do like most and buy a jdm ve from an online site or ebay. I think currently they run between $400- 500. A few usdm parts you would have to swap over onto one of those but other than that wiring harness and ecu (all obtainable from jy) thats it. Ask Augustus he did the swap.

What kind of money are you looking to spend? You can have your VG block totally rebuilt/built up and hook up some boost. Don't forget to upgrade your frame/suspension, wheels, braking system and exhaust.

if u wana do swaps, you should sell the 3rd gen, buy a 4th, and do the vq35 swap. fairly easy with decent writeups found thruought the org. i thought they had made turbo kits for the 3rd gen? i might be mistaken tho...my .02

The VE is just about the easiest to swap over if you want an easy 30 hp gain but both motors have potential if you have the money to spend. Others have parted ways just because they dont want to dump more money in a 20+ year old car and i dont blame them. The 3rd gen is a very fun car to drive with the right mods but it all depends on the owner on how far you are willing to go with it. I have had numerous thoughts to either keep going with modding my 3rd gen or just stop and part with it. But i love it when i get complimented on all i have done to it and motivates me more to keep upgrading it. But if you have the money to mod then go for it.

The VE ISNT easy to swap over into a vg based 3rd gen....you have to do a COMPLETE wiring harness swap for it to work, that includes the under dash harness...

You should consider modifying the Vg. There's a very large aftermarket for vg motors because they are widely used. you can buy headers that bolt on, ported heads, cams, and basically anything else to mod them. The VE is cool but there are no performance parts for them besides a couple bolt-ons.

no, its just that pretty much nobody wants to deal with the wiring of a VE swap. that much wiring is just a nightmare

I just wired my ve swapped car (gxe auto to ve5) a week ago using the gxe body harness. I literally re-pinned the e2 connector, spliced into the ecu ignition power for the coils (f3 connector) changed a couple pins on the trans connector(backup lights), and bypassed the starter relay. It took about 2 hours.

This is why i stated i dont blame people not going forward on modding our 20+ year old money pits. Either you are dedicated or not. You have mechanically inclined guys that would do the swap or not and then you have the not so inclined but are willing to learn but think that its easy. I did not intend to say that the VE swap is easier than modding the VG but what i meant was doing the VE swap rather than the VQ since it involves alot more fabrication than just swapping a VE without all the other hassle that one requires to go through with fabbing up custom mounts, axles, wiring, etc. Im not trying to discourage anyone on not doing great upgrades on our 3rd gens.
