Fuel Injector

Hey org,

Want to start off that I have a 1989 VG30E.

So recently one of my fuel injectors went out. I believe it is number 5 cylinder. Havent been out there in about 6 days so dont remember. Anyway I have to replace it. I heard from someone else's post that there is a colored dot on the injector of a color, either black, green, or blue. Before I got on here I ordered one online (green dot) and my car requires a black dotted injector. My question is does it really matter what the color dot it is? If so what is the difference. And if I can not find another black dotted injector do I need to replace them all with green dots?

Thanks,
Pers

The different color dots indicate the different spray patterns the injector provides. And it is recommended to not mix color dot injectors in the same fuel rail.

For the year you have, you gotta have the black dot injector. There was also a blue dot injector for the 89-92 models but it has been superseded by the black dot and there should be plenty of them. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to get it from the dealer.

The green dot injector you got is for the 93-94 models and it is a different design as the black dot injector that it will not fit into the fuel rail. You will need to return that and get the black dot. You would need to change a lot of parts to have all green dot injectors!

If the rest are good, then it wouldn't be necessary to change the rest. But one thing to consider is that due to the age of the car, if the injectors in your car are still the originals, they may soon follow suit with the failed injector. Over the last two years I ended up changing 5 injectors, having to remove the intake 4 times.

Knock on wood for your situation.
