Lowest suspension

I've decided to go ahead and mod the Maxima anyway. All for looks, though. Not performance. I'm gonna get some 16" rims and new tires, and I'd like to eliminate that big wheel gap. What's the lowest suspension that still looks good. I don't want the tire sucking into the wheel well, but I want something that rides pretty low.

What's the best out there and how much is it gonna cost?

I have limited funds, so nothin more than $100 apiece.

I've actually seriously considered gettin a K&N intake, but I keep lookin at where the MAF ends, and I don't think a K&N will fit. It looks like the cone would bump into the side wall or somethin. I'd probably get a knock-off brand from Autozone anyway. They work just the same. Does anyone with a VG have experiance and know if they fit?

They will fit. Lots of people have them. It actually rests right on the fender. But forget that. If you want the biggest bang. Get a CAI from WSP only about $150 and that is with the K&N cone filter. TRUST ME! You will fill the diff.

supposedly CAI's hurt your top end. . . something about stored air? anyway, i have a home grown pop charger, but i used a K&N filter and used a bracket for a short ram off a honda accord to secure it. it doesn't touch anything. . . i'm fairly happy with it. . .

TRy a homegrown CAI...KN filter in the box, cut 3" hole in box, glass in a 3" PVC elbow with pipe and elbow dropping down behind driver's headlight (small amount of sawsall hackning required). Sounds great..works better...cost 50 bucks. Any way you look at it, better breathing ( intake and exhaust) means more power and better throttle response.

I didn't know a CAI for a VG engine even exsisted. Well, I may just splurge for that and not worry about the $150 that it'll cost. How much do sprints cost? How much installed? (I may be able to bring my car into the school autoshop and have it done for free, but that's a BIG mabye. They usually do repairs, not modifications). Does anyone have a 1.8" drop? How does it look?

I'm also looking into a lower suspension. I have Eibach springs and they look alright but not as low as I like. I have 17's with 45 series and there is a small gap that I would like to cover. I'm also getting a loose sloopy drive when corning. I want to get rid of that as well. Any ideas.

That drop looks nice. Did you do it yourself, or did you have it proffesionally done? How much for the parts? Labor?

I had them professionally done....as for parts-->

KYB struts- $225 shipped
Sprints- $145 shipped
install- $250(which included some extra parts and new boots) and they threw on my FSTB while they were at it!

IMO $250 wasn't bad, since it only took a few hours and also since many other shops quoted me some psycho prices like $350-400!!!!! Local ricer shop one even told me $499....you have to be kidding me! anyways if you don't wanna do it yourself $200-300 is a decent price for all four sides!

Any spring you get is going to make your ride more sloppy than the Eibachs. Do you have a FSTB or Rear anti-sway bar? Are you shox in good condition? You can certainly get lower with other springs, but the Eibachs are going to handle the best.

well thats what we get.....once you put the springs on though you realize its pretty low though. personally I think 2"+ is too low, unless they are coilovers and can be adjusted back and forth, having "unadjustable" springs with a 2.25" drop would be hell for me since I do city driving and have to contend with snow!

LOL! you STILL have those whacked tires on your car?!? It must look hilarious! Now I know why we haven't seen pics of your duals yet!!!

noleafclover: If you want to see low, find a user named maxse91 and look at his last post with a sig pic. I think those are Sprints!

======>>>>>> Didn't someone have a pic or page somewhere with a spring drop comparison a few months ago? I'm SURE I saw this somewhere. He had a bunch of member's cars with the names of the springs on them so people could see how they looked.

impactparts.com....good customer service and they delivered in 3 days, $145 shipped! Soutwestautoworks.com has them too for the same price I think. I've heard of Arospeed springs, but I don't know of anyone who has them, I think they just started making them for our cars!
