I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima with a Bose Audio system that has problems and a dashboard that has issues.

The display of everything in the center of the dashboard won't light up even though the fuses are all in good condition.

And the AC worked when I turned it on and then stopped when I turned it off and then back on. Just the fan runs now.

The CD player and Tape Deck wont work, yet the radio works.
It wont switch from Radio to CD or Tape (when a CD and or Tape have been entered). And I can't exactly see what is going on because the display on the entire center panel (including the AC/Heater) is out.

I need to know if I can fix these problems or just go out and try and find a compatible stereo system. And some how fix the display and AC issues.

I am beside myself on what is wrong with it, and feedback on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly unless you have some attachment to the thing I would replace it. It lasted this long now its slowly waving bye bye. Why it is conflicting with your A/C idk. When you pull it observe you harness for any loose/ frayed wires.

 

illumination only works if headlight switch is not in OFF psition. your headunit is wornout. yes, it happens after 19 years being in a car

i replaced mine with a double din bose from a 4thgen max. purchase a harness or make one yourself. it works great, just dont forget to ground the headunit to its case, not thru the harness.
