I've looked everywhere. Lots of dead links out there! I even sent Craig B and Pearl93VE private messages looking for the fix!
BTW, I have a 92 Maxima with original 53k and now has the intermittent seat belt chime/light that goes off!
The fix has something to do with opening up the B pillar and jumping a connection.
If anyone knows what to do (in detail), please post the instructions here!!
Many thanks!

I'm having same issue. 53k pretty low miles. I'm at 177k. Should post pics of that low mileage max.Originally Posted by BraveHelios

Looks to be the light green wire from the door switch. You could also just disconnect the chime, it's on the back of the instrument cluster.
Man I had this same issue a few years ago. All the links were dead. I ended up figuring it out, but I can't remember offhand now how to do it. I know I just jumped the harness in the b pillar with a little loop of wire. I could go check for you but I sold that Max 2 years ago.
Somebody here has some of Craig's old write-ups scanned in (but unfortunately not all of them). It may be Maximan190 IIRC

Just replace the TCU if it's chiming at random and there's an obvious fault. I thought you just wanted to disable the chime because it annoys you.
And if you are in fact wearing your belt when it starts chiming, it could be switch in the latch. Check it, check the connector under the seat, replace latch if necessary.

I believe the seat belt system has a lifetime warranty. It's in the back of the owners manual. When we got my son's '91 SE a few years ago, it was having a similar problem. Took it to the dealer and they replaced a couple of belts and it's been fine since. It's a little known fact, but they'll do it if they can still get the parts.

I took in a 3rd gen I paid $100 for and got brand new front belts installed. The car is long gone.
Still got the belts though

i still have a printout of this fix...
behind the b pillar cover its a white connector,4 small wires,
on the passenger side its the purple with yellow stripe to black, use a jumper wire,
i think there are 2 black wires and i tryed the wrong black wire first, if i remember correctly,
i used to smack the passenger b pillar to get it to stop as well,it did it more on sunny days for some reason, probaly a reminder to buckle up because the freaks come out for light...lol

Thank you!! Finally getting somewhere with this. Would be really cool if you scanned your printout and uploaded it to this page!Originally Posted by maximagician

Anyway, so I guess it depends on which side is failing as to which B-pillar cover is removed and wiring is hacked. Yes?

Open the FSM to BF-51 (nicoclub.org/fsm/maxima/1994). There's 3 switches that could be faulty (shoulder buckles, driver lap buckle). Figure out which one it is and FIX IT either by replacing the latch assembly, or taking it apart and cleaning up the switch.
Or go ahead and bypass the switch if you're satisfied with a job done wrong.

Dont know if u found a fix yet but i had a similar problem and found that the switch inside the sliding latch for shoulder belt was slightly worn and would sometimes caused the chime. Fix for me was simple, just apply some silicone at the tip of the chrome buckle to make it slightly longer and that solved it. Hope this is helpful.Originally Posted by BraveHelios
