Great work! I would had used rope instead of chains to avoid denting and scratching the valve covers. Keep us updated.

I used my last vg30et block that I experimented with a few years back when I boosted and started there. I spent a little under $600 over the coarse of 4 months off and on. I'm not sure on ve motors rebuilds! look in some threads there's been a lot of members rebuilding ve's
and swappin in jdm engines! Good luck!

parts on a VE are much less common, so it might cost more for you, and less places will be familiar with the engine as well.

The VG came in a few different displacements and block designations (A/B or W) and a few different compressions depending if it was turbo/supercharged or NA, but overall the selection of VG parts is pretty high since the engine was produced in some form for 22 years. VE only existed for 3 years, and only existed in the premium trim of one model of car.

Anyone who plans on having a car for as long as many of us had or purchased one with high mileage should have a spare motor on hand. Its make sense to know what condition your motor is in knowing that you have a nicely rebuilt or a good jdm. 3rd gens are becoming harder to find at junkyards then 4th and 5th that is here in arizona. That's why I have a shed full of 3rd gen stuff couple of spare fuel rails with injectors etc etc.

Sounds like my garage, 3rd gen hood, doors, transmissions, complete interiors, engine, etc. 3rd gens are still very common locally. But yeah, I can relate to having another ________ in the garage to replace the one that breaks! Geez, I have so many ecu's, tcu's, etc.....sounds kinda sad once I put it in writing.

I hear you man!. Same on my end! I've practialy replaced everything on the car more than once and have had my share of other vehicles but this by far stayed. I use to get mad when injectors would fail from time to time but I've done it so many times I could do it with my eyes closed. Tranny swaps engines etc..O and window regulators.

You're not alone. It is sad. I've recently organized, cleaned up and gotten rid of a lot of stuff that I've piled up over the years. Just getting rid of the junk and organizing everything else is like a big weight off the shoulders.

And btw, the process involved taking all the junk to the pick and pull and dumping it in random trunks of cars

What's really bad Dan is I found some more of those injector caps we discussed in a box I forgot having. Yeah, I'm cleaning things up this summer. May soon be doing a "Free or going to the garbage" thread in 4 sale section. LOL!! It's truly sad when you're at a point where you consider implementing some kind of Dewey Decimal system to track and organize what you've got!
