Windshield Washer died.....

Sooner or later, it had to happen.

It quit squirting.

Started with a leak, a weird leak, then, well, like a progressive illness, the pump motor finally signed off.

Picked up a universal replacement, seems the early and late years take a different pump, check your mfg date prior to heading to the parts store.

Cost $20.00 and it was simple to install - get under the car, pull down the plastic panel covering access to the pump, disconnect wire and hose, pull pump out.

Removed the old grommet, installed new grommet.

Installed pump (pushed in), cut 1/2" off the end of the hose off so the new connection was tight and started on the wiring.

Kit came with those handle little wire adapters you crimp on to the wires with pliers - access was limited, but if it was too easy it would not be as rewarding.

New pump is installed and boy does it ever spray - needed to make some minor adjustments to where it sprayed and the world was at peace.

I believe the new pump probably brought back at least 20HP, and top speed probably increased at least 10MPH. The handling is also dramatically improved, and I've noticed that every hot chick now looks at the car.

OK, maybe the last paragraph was pure hyperbole, but at least the squirters are working again......

when I replaced mine, it was external from the tank completely and actually sucked through the original pump (whose output was the new pump's input) then pushed it up to the hood. It worked well enough, for the 3 years I drove the car with it installed.
