89 maxima window weatherstripping
hello...has anyone replaced the window weatherstripping for their Maxima...I am wondering if i have to take off the door panels to do the job properly...the weaherstripping i purchased from Courtesy is much longer than the window...it appears the weatherstripping runs well below the window into the door cavity...any suggestions? thanks, jeff

The weather stripping (assuming we are talking about the same part) runs down into the door also serving as a guide for the window int he track.
In theory you can do it without taking apart the door but its a huge pain in the *** on some cars. I've never done a 3rd gen nor have I even looked at it to see what it'd take overall. A quick rundown though. When we replace window seals its easier on most cars to remove at a minimum the belt moldings and use a buttload of our beloved Secret SauceTM (basically its some offbrand silicone based armor all. Regular armor all will dry the rubber out. I don't recall the exact name of the stuff though) and just work it down the track, ensuring you get the window inside the rubber strip as you feed it down.
Every car is different though, so take it with a grain of salt. Surely someone here has replaced 3rd gen window rubber at some point and knows the exact process for minimal blood pressure increase!

Which weatherstripping are you talking about exactly? There's several pieces that could all be considered weatherstripping. There's some on the body side. One that runs the inside printer of each door. Then rubber window channels, belt moldings, etc.

I just replaced front window runs which go down inside the door. I sprayed them with dry silicone first and they went in without a fuss. Also fount that using a small blunt rubber spatula really helped on the part that's inside the door.
