Ve transmission

Is a 1992 ve 5 speed tranny the same as a vg? I'm looking for a spare tranny but all I find is a vg.

You can swap in a VG 5ap very easily. Just have to have VG ubs, axles, and tranny. Done.

If just looking for a replacement, then must stick with VE.

He DOES have a VE 5 speed.

You CAN swap to a VG 5 speed, but it wouldn't be recommended as it is open differential compared to the VE's VLSD 5 speed. Plus it also requires swapping parts as Chris mentioned.

LOL!! Swapped VG and VE in my mind when responding. As stated, points the same, can be done with some additional work! I'll edit.
