How do you know if you have a DOHC or SOHC Engine in a 93 Maxima? V6.

Open hood. Inspect front cam cover. If it says DOHC your in luck. If it doesn't, well, then it doesn't

Check Craigs site, but if you have white gauges and it's a 93 then you've got the DOHC, also if there is no chrome around the windows, then you've got a DOHC, if your taillights are tinted and don't have a chrome strip, then you've got a DOHC, if you have a 5 speed, then you've got a DOHC, if your grill is chromed you have a DOHC, and if you don't have a keypad on your door then you have a DOHC.

Not necessarily. Nissan sold/sells a GXE foglamp that looks similar, but it's hard to tell them apart with a quick glance.

Just open the hood - that's the best way

Or if you just got an engine transplant from a 93 with DOHC, then you're cool, like me! Who wants to race?

Re: Dohc Or Sohc?

hey, i read your profile and saw that it says 93 maxima GLE. the third gen max only came in GXE and SE trims. so i'm assuming you have a GXE, which also makes it SOHC. i wasn't sure what mine was either a while back, i knew it was gxe or gle and i finally figured out gle doesn't exist. anyway, VG POWER!!!

If you race a kid on a tricyle and get your butt kicked, you have SOHC.

there seems like a lot of people like that around! My friend works with someone like that and he's always laughing about it because he owns Office Space on DVD.

"...b-but if Jane is allowed to listen to music at a reasonable volume while she staples, I should be allowed to listen to music at a reasonable level while I collate..."

I think his name's James Milton or something, but he's the same guy who plays Jimmy James on News Radio - he's funny!
I love that movie....
