Car jerks when accelerating and turning

Car jerks when accelerating and turning
Since I got the new transmission in whenever I turn and accelerate hard it kind of slips and feels like it is binding up between 1st and 2nd. It shifts fine when I'm going straight though. Does anyone know what is wrong, and do your cars do this?

tranny slippin
k, i don't know if this is a similar problem as the one i had on my 4th gen maxi, but a few weeks before the tranny totally died, it was doin the same thing you are describing(slipping out of gear in the turns) mechanic said it was the planetaries or orbitaries something like that, but they were goin out. try replacing your tranny fluid ASAP if you haven't already. this will probably only delay the inevitable...but like i said, my problems were on my 87! good luck

I talked to the transmsision place today and drove it around a lot. I came to the conclusion that it only does it when it's cold. The tranmission company said of course that it is the axles, but I really think it is something to do with the differential, because I also have a pinion bearing noise when in 3 and 4th gears and reverse. Plus I don't know how a bad cv joint could be different in warmth or cold.

tranny problems
let me correct myself by saying that my old maxi was a 2nd gen-not 4th gen! my other car would do the same when the tranny was cold-once i let it warm up, there were hardly any problems. about the cv boot-i'm not sure if that would be the cause, as you seem skeptical as well. i guess it depends on how long you've let the cv go for, but when i hesitated to fix mine (3-4 months)i had no problem with acceleration, but i did hear a clicking when i was accelerating through turns. if i turned and did not accelerate-then the clicking would not happen-perhaps this is the sound that you think is a pinion gear? my suggestion is to both change your fluid (just in case, if you haven't) and also do/have done the cv boot. if it hasn't been very long, you can usually just replace the boot-which costs only about 8 or 9 dollars if you do it yourself. if you have let it go the way i did, then it may require a new axle! this can be a little pricey 150.00-250.00 if you have a shop do it. if you do decide you need a new axle, IM or e-mail me "jlpedregon@aol.com" cuz i have a third gen axle that i would just like to get rid of-has about 20,000miles-but i'll give it away! let me know

Now it has started slipping when I'm truning and accelerating. It starts to shift and the rpm's go up to 4500. Automatic transmission suck especially the ones in our cars! The slipping ruled out the whole Cv joint because a bad CV wouldn't cause it to slip. The pinion noise is when I'm going straight. So I'm gonna send the transmission back in a couple weeks and put another one in. I hope it works better. btw,the fluid only has about 400 miles on it as well as the transmission and is Mobil 1.

Rebuilt transmissions, especially the $700 to $1000 kind, only have new soft parts installed, ususlly no new hard stuff unless obviously broken. These kind of problems can be expected sometimes. Plus the extra labor of replacement. There is peace of mind of getting a brand new one from Nissan if you can return this one for cash.

I paid $2365. for mine including torque converter. It was brand new for sure from a Nissan dealer in Seattle, WA (Nissanpartsdirect.com), talk to Steve there. I bought it online. I'm sure that other dealers that work online in your area would quote as good a price or even better. A quote from my local Nissan dealer at the parts counter was $2850. The trans comes complete except for speedometer sensor and trans cooler tubes (use these from your old unit).
AAmco transmission was quoting me a minimum of $1800 to rebuild my trans, probably more like $2200. (including removal). Since I did my own labor (like you did), I figured that a new trans wasn't much more.

What I think is happening is the pinion bearing is out causing the pinion noise, and when I turn it's moving around to much creating the binding. Or it could be whatever lets one wheel move faster when you're turning is malfunctioning. It must be nice to have the peace of mind of a new tranny if you take care of it you'll probably get around 200,000 out of it. With a soft parts rebuild I'd be happy if I get 80,000 miles.
