94 VE30DE issue when at temp
I'm new here so forgive me if I am posting improperly. I could reslly use some help. I am working on a 94 DOHC VVT engine. It had several issues and I'm down to the last one. After reaching operating teml the car will act as if it has either lost fuel or spark. This is not thd issue sine all I need to do is press the accelerator and it eill start to go. Obviously driving like this just doesn'work. If I floor it for 5 seconds it seems to straighten out for a mile or two but then right back to the same problem. It will sometimes stall when stopping but always restarts and goes. If you have any ideas I would appreciate hearing them. The ECU is not showing any codes since I repaired the temp sensor.

Did you "repair" the temp sensor or replace it?
A possible cause of your problem is going to be bad coil packs. This car has no distributor, but is coil-on-plug. When these get worn out, it will cause different problems with acceleration, stalling or "stumbling."
However, there are several other things like the MAF, o2 sensor or cam sensor that could potentially cause this. Unfortunately, with the OBD-1 and little help from the computer, it's difficult to fix these types of problems without some trial and error.
The temp sensor was good. The problem was the wiring at the plug. The MAF was the first thing replaced. The fuel pump was also replaced. I'll disconnect the O2 sensor and look at the voltage. Do they ever have fuel regulator problems? It seems like it runs fine when the vacuum is lower during acceleration. This thing would run fine if you could continue to accelerate. It's main problem is cruising and slack throttle. If you could look at live data it would make this much easier.

So if anybody else would like to chime in that would be great. More information to share. I replaced the ECU because of the erratic nature of the issue. It did change the problem but may be more of an outside temperature effect. It's 50 degrees today rather than 20. When I replaced the ECU it stalled several times during warm up. Each time a simple twist of the key and it started right back up. I did notice that sometimes it will develop a miss that only lasts several cycles and is a definite dead cylinder the result is either it returns to normal or dies. Again a simple twist of the key and it starts right back up. I'm wondering if I have a coil going bad that is forcing the ECU into a reset. Any thoughts?
