I think my son would say this has to be the best free mod ever -

All I know is we had fun doing it, and he's happy.

Sure sounds good

I'm surprised it sounds different at all. And it's getting warmer air now for sure.

I'm surprised your surprised.

Back in the 1970's, we used to "flip the lip" on the air cleaners, really made a throaty roar - especially on a big block with a quadrajet.

And the spot it pulls the air from is not that bad - cool air from the now defunct inlet (see in lower right hand side) will direct some "fresh" air in the general vicinity of the intake.

Yep, simple, free mod that really works well. What more could you want?

Bling?

I went and pulled the intake tube off the shelf for some approximate measurements.

Stock, the tube is about 62mmx40mm ID or 2480 sq mm

With the tube removed, the inlet is now 100mmx60mm ID or 6000 sq mm

About 2.4 times more intake area

Sure, it's drawing air that's a little warmer, but that's probably not as bad of a thing as some may lead us to believe.

He's been getting about 28MPG, this really went up when we replaced all of the vacuum hoses with silicone replacements, amazing difference.

Subtle mods, at a price most anyone can afford.

Nothing wrong with that

I wish the exhaust manifold studs would be as simple.....
