How hard would it be to find a nice 92' SE for 4k or less?

Hi, I'm new here and I have a couple of questions. I am 16 and looking for my first car. I would love to have a Maxima, but I don't know if I can find one that is in pretty good condition for $4000 or less. What should I look for when buying one? At how many miles do the Maxima engines start to die? Also, how many miles should I look for when buying a Maxima? Help would be greatly appreciated.

here's one

You can try autotrader online but there' not many of them. Look's like autotrader's website had only four SE 5-speeds (all '92's) nationwide for under $4k

If you find one, you better grab it

my dad is picking up a Silver 93SE 5spd with 150k on the car and less than 80k on the engine for $3K. There are rare deals like this one, jump on it the momemnt you find one. Good luck

An older lady who lives near me is selling a 90 (i think) SE 5-speed, black with a stillen bodykit, paint is good, car looks nice...190k miles though. I think the tag said 3500, could probably talk her to 3000 cash...located in Vancouver, Washington.

I think our engines should last a very long time given regular routine maintenance. Personally I wouldn't worry about it as long as the engine seems like it's in good shape to begin with and oil changes haven't been neglected.

I know in my city, there are a fair number of VE autos, but far fewer VE 5-speeds. I looked for months and MONTHS until one basket case and my cared-for baby came along. Check out your city's local "buy and sell" paper that comes out every week or so - that's usually a great source of local cars, but you'll have to be persistent, vigilant, and PATIENT!

Picking a maxima is very similar to picking a girl....u just can't jump on the first one that comes along...(unless she's Janet Jackson, J Lo)...oh you get my point

For comparison, I just sold my great shape 92 SE 5sp with 165K miles to my best friend for $4100. I think everyone who has seen my car would have said I gave him a great deal, so expect to pay $4500-5000 for a decent one with similar miles. BTW I see myself in the future owning either another 92-94 SE 5sp or a 97-99 SE 5sp, when I can afford two cars again. Until then I will have the horrible task of driving my 300ZX-TT everyday, and taking the T-tops off during the summer, and powersliding through turns letting my rear hang out, and have chicks check me and my ride out, and....... (Basically I will have an absolutely miserable existance while I am Maxima-less)

I'll sell you my 92 SE auto, 128k miles, dark red, black leather interior, all stock with the exception of Tokico/Eibach. I bought it from a friend's grandfather at 92k and it's in excellent condition. I absolutely love the car but I'm selling it for two reasons:

1 I just got a new job and some money's burning a hole in my pocket
2 I need a stick.

I live in NJ so if you're interested drop me a line at merchant@eclipse.net
