That picture just ran shivers up my spine. When I did this back in the day, I took the motor out, replaced the clutch, did the VTCs and did the studs. Figured it was easier that way. Drilling broken studs out on the car is a major pain

try working in a garage in north Canada where most of the cars are 10+ years old and dropping exhausts or replacing exhaust manifolds, you will never know true anger or frustration until then. bust out the torches

half the time the head and nut of the screws are one big rusty blob and you end up just using new screws

ive already done this twice and both times just removed the motor. glad you managed to do this but i and others will resort to just remove the motor and just replace what needs to be replaced. glad it worked out.
