wtf swap tranny still same problem
wtf swap tranny still same problem
I replace my transmission and my 2nd gear doesn't grind no more and all gears shift prefect when the front wheels was off the floor. But when i test drive it 3rd gear goes in once in a while and fifth doesn't go in at all. Same problem with old transmissions. I'm thinking it has to do with the shift rod or stick shift. Clutch is working good. Can it be that the clutch line is not holding enough pressure? It does have lots of wrinkles on the lines but no leaks
There isn't really any adjustment in our clutch pedals. What exactly will you be adjusting? The clutch master cylinder rod length?
I bet it's not properly bled or the rod length is not quite rite

It didn't work. Fifth gear still won't go in. Starting to think it's something to do with the shift rod. It feels like it's at the entrance but it won't reach all the way in gear. Clutch shift ok. I don't think it's the clutch. Is only a year old. SOMETIMES for 1st gear i have to hold down the clutch shift to 2nd then to 1st. To go in. It's like 1st,3rd,5th gears have trouble reaching the gear. And they all shift forward. Maybe something is blocking it. Any suggestions
I don't think it's the fork cuz it was doing this on my orginal tranny. I doubt that my used one i installed would have same problem. I think something is blocking it from going in further or the clutch is bad. I never heard of a bad clutch still shifting ok but won't go in gear

I used the fork that came with used tranny. I bearing was in great shape so i used it again. The new tranny shift better then my old one is just the 5tg gear doesn't go in. Both tranny have the 5th gear problem. So i don't think the tranny is the problem since the beginning. My orginal tranny only had 1 issue, it would grind when shifting to 2nd gear other then that tranny was good. I guess i have a good spare tranny wick I'll get the 2nd gear synchro fixed. If all gears go in but 5th doesn't, it can't be because of a bleeding issue right?

Here a video of something maybe related to my bushing or 5th gear problem

Yes your shifter is sagging and hitting the heat shield. I would bet money your shifter bushing is trashed thus letting your shifter sag. It shouldn't be able to move up and down like that. Pull off your shift boot surround and have a look. There is a rubber peice a few inches long that spans the side to side distance of the opening with a bolt through it that holds up the shifter assembly. I bet that rubber piece is trashed and letting the whole thing sag.
You can buy a complete new shifter assembly deal from Nissan still for something like 35 bucks (at least a couple years back) which has the new bushing in it.

This is what you need: http://nissanpartsasap.com/nissanpar...artcode=34560N
It installs from the top but the studs aim downwards so you have to remove/tighten the nuts from the bottom. It's not very hard though and IIRC you don't need to remove the cat, just the heat shield.
Before buying that, first verify yours is bad. Pull your shifter surround up and then also pull up that inner boot around the shifter and check out that bushing. I bet it's super cracked and sagging.

Wow that thing is trashed. No wonder you have such issues getting it into gear. I bet it's borderline undriveable in that condition. I know you swapped transmissions but unfortunately this bushing was almost certainly the vast majority of your issue all along. I guess at least now you have a spare transmission lol.
Anyway, that bushing is what holds up and supports the whole shifter and shift linkage. There should be virtually no play there. It is held in with four 10 mm bolts that you must access from underneath.
I took some pictures of my spare one so you can see how it mounts. See the two rusty colored "strips" on the front and back of my unit here with the studs and nuts? That is how it's held in. There will be little pieces of metal that will be bent over the two rusty strips for some reason, you can just bend those up and out of the way. It's really easy actually

And I haven't been on Facebook in months and months and don't use it at all.
*edit* and to be clear - the ENTIRE thing in my pictures I just posted is the "bracket holder". It all comes as one piece. You will need to-reuse those two strips that have the studs and 10 mm nuts on them though.
I see now my direct link from earlier doesn't seem to be working but it's part number 3456051E05 and is $29 from Nissanpartsasap.com. If you're ordering from somewhere else and need to find it in the Nissan browseable catalog you need to go to Power Train -> Transmission Control & Linkage -> Bracket Assy-Holder Rubber. It's 34560N in the catalog.
