did you replace the main fuse? a couple years ago i fecked up hard on a van and put the battery in backwards, after a big spark just replaced the main fuse and all was good. cant see how a relay would get affected from it unless heat

lucky for you my meter fuse keeps blowing as well.
however its only when i put it in reverse so i just remove the fuse when in reverse. however i did research it in the FSM and you're lucky because I jotted down everything connected to that meter fuse

meter gauge, warning lamp, back-up lamp, inhibitor switch, sunroof system, rear window defogger relay, daytime light unit, shift lock system

however this almost seems different than what i remember. as i thought i narrowed down my issue to a specific relay, none of which listed there, i will check again soon and let you know if that truly is all thats connected to the meter fuse

Hey Dmad, did you ever check the wiring harness for the backup lamps in the rear? Those sockets like to corrode and the resistance goes through the roof. I had this issue with the illumination circuit thanks to two of my taillamp sockets being quite literally toast. Not sure if the reverse lamps have a propensity for this type of failure though since they're on less, and certainly less often than the tail lamps/stop lamps.

Just a theory! Sorry to hijack!

Not sure about the 3rd gens, but our 4th gens have fuses for "electrical parts". If yours has them I would check those. Also I accidentally blew a fuse when installing headlights and for some reason the fuse controlling them was labeled "tail lights" so I would check all of the fuses.

quick update of my meter fuse that keeps popping. i install a 25amp in place of the orginial 10amp meter fuse with the hood open i turn the inigition on and i notice smoke coming out of the speed sensor that connects to the tranny. im guessing this is the reason why it keeps popping the orginal 10amps fuse for the meter. i just install this used tranny. so this tranny probably came with a bad speedsensor.

what you guys think?

Update

Unplug speed sensor install new 10amp fuse. Turn key and it's didn't pop. So looks like sensor went bad.
