Distributor Rotor Bolt

I am trying to find the dimensions of the bolt that holds the Distributor Rotor in place. The only information I was able to find online (including here) was 8mm & 5x10, Hex head. No other information, I've even contacted a Nissan Dealer Parts department only to be told that they only know that it's a 5x10.

So any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what bolt you are referring to but if it's the one that holds the rotor brush, if you bought a brush it comes with it.

The bolt I am seeking information on is for the place in the photo. As for going to a pick-an-pull, That isn't currently an option, I've just recently moved and I know no one around town and the closes place is miles away, so no way to get to one such place.

Looks like a new rotor? If thats the case it should have come with the screw like tiniform said. If it is new take it back and get another. BWD is a good one and if im not mistaken definately comes with the screw for the rotor. I could mail you one i have but depending on where you're located it may not be worth the stamp compared to what the screw would cost. If your stuck pm me your info and i can mail it to you otherwise i'd look into returning it for another.

I just need to know the specifications for the bolt, 8mm 5x10 doesn't really get me too far , I have no problem purchasing one, Just need to know what the specifications for it are so that I can buy a new one.

If you had to ask nissan why wouldn't you have just got it from them if you were there for what it's worth? They may have charged a little more than a hardware store but im sure your wasting more in gas to have gone elsewhere to get it. Is that a new rotor you purchased? If so just take it back. It should have came with one. Im sure if you took it back they would exchange it for another with the screw. Maybe someone can chime in to confirm the size but most probably wouldnt know off the top of their heads being you normally purchase it with the screw or worst case use the old one. You could also check the FSM to see if they have the measurement for it.

Okay so after nearly a whole day of searching, I have finally figured it out. On top of that Autozone does provide this bolt/screw.

Measurements: Type Metric, M5 - 0.80 Thread Size, 10 MM Length
M5-0.80 x 10 MM

http://www.autozone.com/fasteners/sc...ew/964852_0_0/

Also, I am not sure if the material or the style of the head matters, but homedepot offers something that might work.

It shouldn't matter too much as long as it fits and the thread size or pitch is the same. It just holds the the rotor to the shaft. Personally i'd just go with the autozone one instead of worrying about nickels and dimes. Im suprised one didn't come with yours. Were you not able to use the old one for some reason? Anyhow glad to hear you got it figured out

You are going down the wrong road here buddy, using another bolt may cause you issues down the road. All rotating parts (if they are properly made), are balance to prevent vibration and wear. There is a reason the screw comes with the new one. At 2500 rpm you don't want to know what damage a gram of out weight balance will cause over time.

The Original one got lost in the engine compartment, I am hoping it will fall through after then engine has been ran for a short time. and Supposedly Duralast doesn't come with new ones, autozone doesn't have any other brands available locally.

I know you're correct about this, that's why the autozone one seems to be the better of the choices, even if the counter-balance is off, I don't intend to leave it like this for too long. just long enough for a correct replacement to come in from NissanUSA. It's just that where I live the vehicle can't be sitting to long without being moved every so often or it will be towed. and the maintenance personnel is pretty on top of that stuff.

So after further investigation and checking - and a nice long long walk. Home-Depot has the correct item! Also so that Tinfoil knows, this actually meets the weight measurements of the original bolt/screw.

4 Piece(s) for $0.98
