Sounds to me that's what he is talking about, kinda like a lockout. I have always pondered how unsecured these cars were, get inside and you have access to everything. I will be investigating this lockout feature especially since I always have important stuff in there.

I'll be damned. There is actually a lockout lever in trunk as mentioned in the earlier post. I thought I knew everything about my max. And you what, it says it right there in the owners manual too. When am I going to start reading the manuals?

Doo elaborate lol. If its on lockout does the trunk button still work or is it the button and valet key that wont work but the master will? How is opened when its set to lockout or what kind of added security does it provide? Or maybe i should just read the manual too lol.

valet key will open the doors and start your car.
valet key will NOT open the trunk or glove box.

the metal switch is in the trunk by the latch...you pull it up or down (i think down is disable) and the pull lever inside the car will not open the trunk.

I've always noticed the metal switch in the trunk. I'm surprised that some of you are surprised by it

Dan, do the pre 1992 cars have an actual pull lever for the trunk? All my 3rd gens have had just a button on the driver door panel. It's actually in a pretty bad spot, because your left elbow tends to be prone to hitting it and popping your trunk inadvertently.

yup...pull for trunk...push for gas door.

no fancy button to press for actuator.

Ohhhhh yes that's right. Now I remember I came across an 89 SE once at the JY and noticed it had a dual function (press AND pull) gas lever. Interesting!

Geordie, in lockout mode, you will still hear the trunk/boot actuator if you hit the botton on the door so, if you are not hearing it there is something else going on with yours.

Yay! Remote boot (trunk) release sorted. Sure enough, the lockout switch needed pulling up and we are now cooking with gas.

Now this is a perfect example why I love being part of good owners clubs.

Thanks.

Very pleased it all made it your way safe and sound. I take it the shippers must have strictly obeyed my very authoritative arrows drawn on the box.

Sorry I forgot to clean off all that Texas dirt from the springs.

Where did you manage to find those Tiniform? When i got a set brand new in the box it was like finding a needle in a haystack. I got lucky enough to find a supplier that happened to have a set on his shelf collecting dust. Its too bad eibach discontinued them back in 08.

Right after missing out on the set james had, again, i sealed the deal on these from an org member. Still so very excited I haven't even opened the box yet - if that makes any sense.

I am eagerly waiting to see how much of a drop there is especially since you're only doing the fronts to begin with.

I'll be happy with just levelling out the arch gaps. It might not look like it's been lowered, which is fine with me, as long as it looks right. Slammed cars are not my thing anyway. That's more for the VW crowd in the UK.

I am currently on what is suppose to be a 2" drop and the ride and stance is great but they are not the highest quality springs. I expect the eibachs will sit a bit higher but with the body kit it should still have the look.

Couple of quick pics after fitting the Eibach's to the front. So much better now the arch gaps are equal...

Looks good. What size rim do you have. I have 18's with the eibach's and doesnt look slammed but very minimal wheel gap.

Much better! Somehow, your car originally looked even higher in the front than what seems typical on a 3rd gen. Maybe it's just the angle and/or the lower profile tires though.

Big difference to the look and should even sit lower when the rears are installed.
I am waiting for my ST sway bars to come in next week and hopefully I can get everything on by the weekend.

Funny you mention that. I was thinking the same thing. Thats why i was wondering what size rim and tire he had. I don't think i've seen the eibach's or any spring for that matter only installed on the front looking at the pics. It seems to be at par with the rear now but im sure with rears installed it wont look to be a drastic difference and should look nice n level. Looks much better without the wheel gap.

With the rears installed it will then look lower in the rear. Which both Geordie and I hate. I've always been perplexed frankly that it doesn't visually bother more people. Almost every lowered 3rd gen I've seen over the years look slower in the rear and has always driven me crazy. That's the exact reason I have Intrax up front and Eibach on the rear of my blue car.

And also the reason I have Eibach only on the front of my 93 black VE.

I can definately see how that would bother you visually that would bother me too though i've got eibach's all around and sitting nice. Doesn't look lower in the rear at all with the 18's i have on actually looks very much like how your blue ve sits with very little wheel gap.

Like James says, I'm with him on hating the uneven arch gaps. I'll be staying with just the front lowered. Don't see the reasoning behind fitting the rears to make them uneven again. It had a full wheel alignment after the front springs were fitted and I've just taken it to work (65 miles) and it's driving sweet as.

I'll hopefully get it washed and waxed this weekend, apply some tyre dressing, and take some better pics.

Just the rear windows to tint and the timing belt/aux belts to change, then I'm pretty much done for the summer. Don't think I've done too bad in a couple of months.

The organisers of a large Japanese marque festival have asked if I'll put the car on a retro-JDM stand in April. I think I will!

Oh damn! I was hoping to see how it sits on all four springs. Unless ac max puts up a pic I'll just have to wait and see how mine turns out. I will show before and after pics whenever it gets done.
Geordie, have you installed the cluster yet?

I'll not be fitting the rear springs. Level is more important than lows to me.

I won't be installing the white faced dials just yet either. I like them, but for now I like the standard black ones better.

Sorry, just realised I'm not really helping you much here haha

Keep in mind it's not that Eibachs are actually lower in the back per se. It's just that 3rd gens by and large somehow are naturally "saggy" in the rear. So then of course if you lower all four corners by an even amount, your newly lowered car will then still be lower in the back.

Of course there are exceptions to this and if your car does not suffer from "saggy rear" before the drop then it won't look lower in the rear after the drop.

I have it parked up in the garage for the winter months but i did try and take a couple pics. last night but being i dont have a huge garage i couldnt get the whole car in the pic. and when i took a pic of the front and rear separate the back turned out dark due to the lighting but i will get a couple pics in due time. James being im not the tech. savy guy and you once posted some clear corner pics for me i may need to have you post them for me if you can pm me your email once i get a chance and the snow melts and the weather gets better i can pull it out and get a couple decent pics for you.

I'm gonna have to get mine on a level surface to see what you all are talking about. I never really notice mine to be (seemingly) lower in the rear but then again, it's always parked on an incline. I will get some pics tomorrow so I can compare it when I put the eibachs on. The rears will be done first because I plan on doing the reman calipers at the same time.
