I need to get rest my stillen kit on and painted. Have the front lip on but needs redone tape did not hold in couple spots.

Does a VE speedometer respond accurately to a VG speed sensor?

 

Yes it is direct swap. I just used the speedometer part and installed into my vg cluster. That way kept same mileage.

 

So you have a white faced speedometer from a ve and the tach etc. black in your vg cluster? I actually found when swapping a ve cluster into the vg the odometer was very simple to swap over to keep the original mileage. Only one screw and the whole odometer slides out in one piece. Probably the easiest gauge to swap over.

 

It's not even necessary to swap odometer from one to the other, simply pull the pin that goes through the center of the numbers and match the mileage to the one you're removing and all done. This cluster, along with most of the other parts, carried over from my max that was totaled in 2014 so I had to match mileage twice.

I recommend using 3M 06382 for the tape. That's what I used this last go-round with my rear Stillen lip. It is BIG TIME stickier than the 3M stuff you buy in Autozone and whatnot.

 

Even with the tape I was getting a sagging above the cut out for the exhaust. Eventually l to drill into it and used a plastic push in fastener to hold it in place. The fastener looks like a backup sensor.
I am still not sure if I want to paint the kit the color of the car - maybe eventually.

 

That's where they typically sag. Did you use the specific tape I mentioned above or do you mean you just used the typical 3M double sided stuff sold at parts stores?

James, when I was putting the kit on back in the day, I went with the tape recommended in a couple of postings on the org.
The the fastener is installed flushed with the kit so it's not an eye soar and it does look like a backup sensor. One of these days I will redo the whole thing because I notice gaps on the sides by the rear wheels
