Back up Lights

My reverse lights do not work and i know its because of the piece on the transmission. But do i have to take that to a dealer to get fixed, a regular automotive shop, or can i do it myself?

I have a mechanic who works on foreign cars and he was able to fix mine.
Call around to some shops.
Should be able to find someone other than a dealer.

Can't remember. Was a while ago.
Don't think the part was that much, $60 maybe.

HMMM I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THAT ON MY CAR.. THE NUETRAL SWITCH LOCATED ON MY TRANNY HAD GONE BAD
I HAD TO GET THE NUETRAL SWITCH REPLACE.. MY BACK UP LIGHTS WOULD NOT APPEAR. AFTER IT WAS FIXED.

THE SAME PROBLEM APPEARED , THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO A REAL A1 ELECTRICAL MECHANIC. AND HE ISOLATED THE GLITCH TO A WORN OUT LIGHT SWITHC LOCATED ON THE STEERING COLUMN (LEFT SIDE) 70 DOLLAR PART

IT IS BEST YOU GET A CERTIFIED ELECTIRCAL SPECIAL LIST
THAT HAS EXPERIENCE WITH NISSANS.

GETING A REGULAR MECHANIC OR DOING IT YOUR SELF MY BE A FATAL MISJUDGMENT FOR YOU MAXIMA.
