Brake Fluid !?!?!

I know this may sounds stupid but can someone please tell me to check my brake fluid. My E-brake light is staying on, and i was told this may be caused by low brake fluid.
So if someone could describe or give a diagram of where the brake fluid is, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Okay since no one else has answered, I guess I will. If you stand by the front driver's side wheel and look at the engine, there is a canister with a brown cap to the right of the air filter box kinda by the strut housing. Unscrew the cap and check the level.

Re: Brake Fluid !?!?!

when you open the cap on the brake fluid reservoir take a whiff...if it's a godawful putrid stench you've got the right one =)

your maxima should take the usual DOT 3 brake flud (can get it everywhere...wal-mart has it pretty cheap)

this might all be labeled on the little dipstick too.
