He's been doing RACING engines for 15 years. His name is Byron. He told me that I could safely give it 10.5:1 compression, he'd do the head job, and he expects it to produce about 40 or more horsepower if I extruded the intake and TB. This guy has a 300+ HP Mercury Capri convertible turbo that he drives everyday :0)

Justin and others: about your comments on the earlier thread. I don't care about how fast it goes on the track or whatever. I just want the car to be faster on my drive home. I CAN get the results I want while still going NA. Why do all that turbo work when I could just remove and re-install an engine? That's my goal. I expect the project to take about a year to do, as I want to do most of it myself as a learning experience and take my time and get it done right.

Mmmmmm.... 200+ HP :0)

Its because we are speed freaks....hehe

Its easier to up the boost and go faster than tune an NA engine. However its lot easier to blow a turbo motor than a NA motor. I know that for me to run 95mph trapspeeds I would need around 170-190hp at the wheels. That is around 70hp more than my baseline dyno. I'm sure it can be done but right now I don't want to build a NA motor. Also Kaleb have you decided on what cams your going to use. Believe it or not without cams your not going to get the full potential of the headwork.

Re: Its because we are speed freaks....hehe

I mentioned JWT cams to him. He said that he thinks there stuff is way overpriced, and that he knows where I can get some for much cheaper, just the way I want them. So we'll see as the "day" gets closer. First I have to have a place to put the engine :0). I'm trying to convince my dad to let me use a part of our HUGE shed that's not even being used, but so far it's a big fat NO. Steve's gonna let me used some space to park the engine, but I won't be able to work on it.... uggggg... The darn thing isn't even that big!

I know I need to change the cams, and that's been part of the plan but I just haven't mentioned it. It'd be kind of pointless to do all that work without a cam change huh? hehehe

JWT prices are expensive. I bet the cams are gonna be regrinds, and the motorsport auto cams are $180. Of course its gonna take about 2-4 weeks to get them. I have a catalog from them the link is below. I suggest you get the 280 degree non turbo cam, since your going NA route. Don't forget the HKS camgears either!
