What could it be? Transmission

On my 93 maxima sohc when in reverse everything is good but when in drive a very slow acceleration with the gas pedal to the floor. What could it be? Please help

If you put the shifter into "L" so it's manually in 1st gear, is it still sluggish?

Had identical issue! Found cold solder joints in the MAF sensor. Cut the cover open and find the wires from the connector going into the circuit board. Just resolder these. I sealed the sensor with duct tape and it's been working for years like that.
