Help!!! Antenna

My antenna broke several months ago, put of replacing it until now. I had NO antenna coming from the hole, the whole mast was gone. It would'nt feed so I took the motor out per the instructions found in this forum. Was kind of tight going in, but it made it, however, the bottom sleeve of the mast sticks out. When I turned it on the mast went up, but it won't retract.

Does the bottom of the mast sit flush with the retaining screw?

Can anything be broken off in the long tube coming from the motor assembly.

BTW, what's the draining tube for? I notice it said in the instructions not to kink it, but what is acutally draining?

Re: Help!!! Antenna

did you actually take apart the motor assembly? my guess is theres still a broken piece of plastic from the mast that's stuck in the part where it coils up.

i'd imagine the drain tube is for any water/moisture that might get through.

Antenna

The drain tube is to get rid of any moisture that makes it into the motor casing (the mast is exposed to the elements, and far from waterproof).

The thin copper casing that goes on the outside of the bottom most mast segment keeps that segment in the assembly. The top "nut" keeps the copper sleeve from coming out.

If you took the whole asembly out before, I would take it out again, and see if nothing went wrong inside. Did you properly clean the casing, all moving parts and grease the tail while you had it apart?

Good luck,
John
