No it's a good question considering you probably have been reading the procedures on the auto trannies.

You don't "flush" a 5-sp. You simply drain and refill. There is a large 4 sided nut that accepts a 1/2" drive wrench. You simple unscrew that and let the tranny fluid drain. Then you can refill using the fill nut or just fill the recommended(premeasure) amount into the speed sensor hole located on top of the tranny near the firewall(directly under the fuel filter). Amsoil/Redline and Mobil 1 make good synthetic fluids. Check your manual for the proper type and consult a good shop to help you choose the right fluid.

whatwhatwhat?! speed sensor hole?!

sonofa*****! I've always just pointed the bottle into the plug on the side of the tranny and smashed the crap out of it until I had most of the oil out... I never thought of the speed sensor!

Haha! yeah we can still learn from each other huh? I might need to consult w/ you on those brackets! hehe.

Yeah speed sensor hole is alot easier. Just use a long clear tube and shove it down the hole. But make sure to PRE-MEASURE THE AMOUNT NEEDED.

So its as easy as changing the oil I think I am going to switch to amsoil/redline when I get my max back with the remaned tranny. You think that would be smart?

Yup.. when you get the tranny back, put some cheapo fluid in it for 2-3k miles. after it's got a decent break-in period, change it to a synthetic MOTOR OIL.. like Mobil 1 SAE 50... use the heaviest motor oil you can find...
run that for a few thousand miles...
Then put in the redline or amsoil..

this was what the tranny shop told me when I had mine rebuilt.. they build trannies for many of the local road racers and drag cars.. they can't be too dumb on the situation.
