Re: radio on or off during remote start

Mine non stock HU does turn on if I leave it "on" when I shut off the car. If the radio is off, it stays off after remote start.

the remote start gives accessories power so it will turn the radio on if it was left on before

if you're really picky about it, you could run a relay to teh radio's power wire to make it not turn on when remote started but I dont know if it's worth the hassle

yup, what craig said.

your best option if you don't like the radio on is to simply turn the radio off and your heat on before you get out of the car.

theres gotta be another way to do it...the radio never came on in my grand am when i used remote start

i guess thats why i couldnt get my heat to work...i figured the heat ran off the ingnition wire not the acc. wire...

correct. heat DOES run off ignition wire.

on the max, there's two ACC wires and an ignition wire.. or something like that.
just find a way to disable the ACC wire connections and keep the IGN connections alive on it and see what happens.

when I was having problems with my alarm, I know my car would start and run, while the interior stuff didn't work... ACC wires were cutoff by the alarm, but the ignition circuit was going.

if i disconnect the acc wire and keep the ign wire the car starts but the heat doesnt work. the only way i can seem to get the heat to work is to power the acc wire but then the radio works too.

hmmm okay...

then trace the power wire back to the heater control and move it over to an IGN only power source, instead of ACC.

I still say to just turn the radio off before you get out of the car.
