@$$

You all really like the big plastic back panel more than just a regular trunk? If not for the cupholder and that it may be the best maxima.

What do you mean my max has cupholder! Open the glove box. I used it today on the highway with the cruise control set and no sudden moves

Now us 3rd gen owners have to be differant because we have to make are own modds like the headlight convs and stuff, but where as 4th gens they are all mostly staying on the same path.
I am Happy that we 3rd gen owners have more class and less rice

Hiding from 4th gen owners now

Just because it's available to 4th Gen, doesn't mean you have to buy the Mods. Have you no self control

i can safely say the ONLY things i dont like about my 91 SE are all the little dents and dings (of course these are expected) and the fact that it has almost 130,000 miles on it. thing i like best about it is the headroom. i'm 6'3 and i can actually fit in this car...dont even have to have my seat pushed back all the way. i couldn't have asked for a better car.

3rd Gens have...

Dimming Dome Lights
Step Lights on back doors
Key lock lights on Front door locks
Bose Standard on SE's
Anti-Skid
Sunroof Standard on SE's (I think)
Less Rattles
Better Seats
Auto Seatbelts
no 4x4 look
sportier guages
More agressive looking interior
Standard RSB (even tho its a crappy one)
Fuzzy Pillars

I could go on....

DaBox sunroofs were standard from 89-91, in 92 they became part of a package.

THANK YOU! I was confused one day because I thought all 3rd Gen SE's had sunroofs. Then I saw a 93 SE for sale near here and it didnt have one! I was thinking WTF!? My sunroof is fine and so is the cover. I didnt know those had troubles Oh well, at least the sunroofs are bigger than the 4th gen ones.

They have little clips on them and are flimsy, but you will not have a problem until it gets wet. Make sure that your roof is closed and the rubber seal is good, watch out for rain and automatic car washes

u 4th generation haters!

how could u not like the 4th generation max?! faster than 3rd, looks better, looks more luxurious, roomier, u can't go wrong with 4th generation...

the only thing i like about 3rd over 4th (two reasons) the seat belt thing, and the fact that it looks sportier....well that's if you are going for that look....i hate the fact that it's so square though, but like i said on my sig "Strong enough for sporting, PH BALANCED for luxury" but that's an old pic, before i knew about.org...now it looks a lot better....

Blah Blah Blah.
Faster than a third gen? a VE 5spd will eat you. A 5spd VQ will take a VE 5pd but only by a little.
Looks better? The 95-96 are probably the ugliest "maxima's" ever built
More luxurious? Who cares? if you have never look at a thrid gen rear window there's a sticker that reads 4DSC. Which means 4 door sports car.

I had both...

Let me tell you...
My 93 SE, was 1.. 3242153452345634 times better handling stock then any 4th or 5th gen I have driven, and I've drive quite a few of them. bTW, my 93 SE had like a whole lot more miles and blown front struts... The interior is way better put together, no rattles, it's more compact, nothing extra.. little goodies like back door step lights and tilting headrests are a plus i liked the styling more too...

However, you people make out the 4th gen to be a lot worse then it really is.

For one.. the 4th gens are generally more reliable. How many people experience tranny problems on 3rd gens, VTCs and exhaust studs.. all fairly common things... 4th gens did not have any factory mishaps except O2 sensors on 95s, which was fixed up.. although we might find out a little later as most 4th gens are not up there in milage just yet.. but quite a few people are with 130k miles + and going well.. 4th gens are roomier, quieter, faster STOCK.. matched up 5spd vs. 5spd, auto vs. auto.. etc.. only a VE would hang with a 4th gen.. the rest won't.
4th gens are better for simple bolt ons, people who don't want to go into more serious stuff like engine swaps, with bolt ons you can get your AUTO 4th gen into 14s N/A. You can have your N/A 5spd in the very low 14s.. 4th gen engine is smoother and quieter, probably more reliable.. although both the VG and the VE are great. 4th gens are more luxurious.. I can name a few other things.. and despite the wheel gap, and some rattles or whatever, I still think the 4th gen is more practical and better...

I dont like the ignition/reminder beeping in 4th gens. I think the bell chime sounds a little more classy

4th gens are well made cars. They just have some design flaws like the suspension, wheel gap and ugly bubble butt syndrome. The perfect combination would be a 3rd gen body with a VQ engine.

Just a reminder, imagine how much of an impact in styling, luxury and performance the 3rd gens made when they were first seen in 1988! I mean, this car amazes me to this day. Back then, the road was full of sharp-edged boxybody cars. The 3rd gens changed the game when they arrived. Hence the name 4DSC

Well I must say that the 97-99 SE is the best looking stock Maxima to this day 95-96 well?? The VE 5spd is pretty close to the VQ 5spd, but the auto is another story the stock VQ vs stock VE or VG, the VQ has way more punch. I stil think that the 92-94 GXE in the Pearl white or White is a good looking car, and that style holds up well with some much newer designs. I remember one car mag said this car ages with time better than D*ck Clark.

the funniest thing is when people get in my car, and they have no idea how the seatbelt works... 1 kid put the motorized part of the belt behind his head cuz he didnt like it, so when he opened the car door, his head got yanked forward

I don't blame him really. When i first got my maxima, i had the hardest time trying to adjust to the motorized seat beat. I always catch myself fumbling for the release button on the side of the chair like all normal seatbeats.

the worst part is when the seat belt retractor locks up while you are trying to get out of the car. I got clotheslined real good one time Ouch!

my dad used to drive a 1st gen a long time ago, and instead if a chime, the car talked. some chicks voice would say, "key is in the ignition", and she would also say "fuel level is low" and "right/left door is open". i thought that was tight. hey! theres my next mod, 1st gen voice alert conversion in my max.

I am a moron. Please do not listen to anything I say ever again. I have nothing constructive to say, and I drive a beat up AMC Pacer. My "weekend" car is an Edsel, which I dearly love and consider it a pleasure to work on it more than I drive it.
