Another Reason I am glad to own a 3rd gen instead of a 4th gen!

I have been peeking in the 4th gen area and it scared me to see how all the modds (Modds I hate) that they make for hondas and other rice are starting to be made for 4th gens and 4th gen people like this! Now us 3rd gen owners have to be differant because we have to make are own modds like the headlight convs and stuff, but where as 4th gens they are all mostly staying on the same path.
I am Happy that we 3rd gen owners have more class and less rice

Yeah, and Skyline tail lights! Oh wait..

It seems to me the people who have their minds on performance know exactly what to do, and use mostly Nissan parts, not aftermarket parts. Yet their still putting out the same amount of power? Wierd..

I disagree, the 4th gens have better mods than 3rd gen and better styling, there is nothing for a 3rd gen out there as far as that goes. All get is a few exhaust mods and an intake!! whooopie!! and I love my car but definately selling it at the end of the year! Not enough to do to it.

Are you sane?

3rd gen styling = timeless
4th gen styling = tired

there is nothing for a 3rd gen out there as far as that goes.

Hmmmm....

Properly valved Tokicos
Y-pipe
Intake
RSB
FSTB
ECU (that actually gains)
5th gen muffler
H4 Headlights (from Maximamike, but I may be wrong on that as of now....it was at one point)

Turbo (doable and less complicated than on a 4th gen)

Show me a VQ turbo that's easy/cheap to do.....

Show me a 4th gen with good gains from an ECU and H4 headlight
availability (the I30 H4 Cefiro upgrade doesn't count)

All get is a few exhaust mods and an intake!! whooopie!! and I love my car but definately selling it at the end of the year! Not enough to do to it.
Except for the S/C and the KYB AGX shocks, please don't operate under the delusion that the 4th gen has more mod capability. Unless you want the blower or Altezzas, you are wasting your money.

This is correct. I haven't talk to my man Yossy in a little while but I'm sure he'd still be happy to do the deal. I also know a couple others that could do it. These would be new JDM parts, made when you order your parts. Either that or I could try to have them find used ones(might take longer)..

Just wait in till you sell your 3rd Gen. and get a 4th Gen., My friend did that and he misses 5 speed VE and it is annoying to drive in his Max because there's always something rattling or squeaky Plus there is always something small wrong with it on parts that Nissan got cheap on and did bad quality on. I wont even compare the bubble but to are high class 3rd Gen. Max's. This is why this is my second 3rd gen

Cup Holders....

The only thing that makes a fouth gen better than us is the fact that they have cup holders....god what I would do for a cup holder that is ghetto rigged to the stereo....

That's a good point about the cupholders........probably the most irritating thing on the 3rd gen, next to the automatic seatbelts and the ubiquitous button that you have to push to get the key out......

And the good cupholders only came on the 97-99 models.....

Maybe I need to get my eyes checked or something but I swear looking at my Maxima from the front I can see a definite resemblence with the 3rd gens and the R32+

I totally agree the the 3rd gen is the best looking max out there, i do wish that there were a few more mods out there to do but if you do things just right you can get the car pretty good.

maybe it's just me but i think the best maxima out there is the 5th gen. True that they have a nasty *** but minus the *** i think the 5th rocks. As for the 3rd gen, well it's nice but i guess it's just abit too boxy. But hey i habe a 3rd gen myself so i guess it can't be all that bad right

well since yet another thread had to be dug up from it's grave...the 3.5 vq from the 02 is the best engine, the 3rd gen, i believe, is the best body/all around...

Well I love my third gen

And I hate the bubble but 4th gen look, but there are far more choices for aftermarket performance parts (not just the ricy no-HP adding crap).

Also, Nissan is beginning to discontinue a lot of stuff for our car (This is very distrubing).

Also, you can't get a decent body kit, that does make your car look like a 2nd gen

Err, that button is to take the key out? Only time I ever used it was to turn on the alarm... Which I can't even do anymore!
And I third that cupholder thing... I miss cupholders, but that's about it
Now I just wedge my bottle of soda between the seat belt and the center console!

No way dude, my 3rd Gen does so many wierd things it drives me insane. Right now it seems to have a hard time shifting between 1, 2 and three.. it shakes vigoroursly when going 80+... The spoiler is about to pop off the trunk... oh boy, I should stop.

not to mention we have real independent rear suspension, unlike the 4th gen's "truck" suspension

your car is 12 years old...do u expect it to run 100% perfect? your problems are tranny related, wheel balance, and wear and tear.
