Just change the oil it's time. Yes I would change the tranny fluid also and make sure you change it regularly. A/T rebuilds are expensive.

I'd like to know what conditions warrants an oil change every 3k.
85 Volvo 740 4cyl 125k = 5000, medium dirty, but expected on an older engine
93 Altima 5sp (moderate driving, redline everytime i drive, autox, street race, mix highway/city, average 26mpg) 156k = 5000 mobile 1, still golden color @ changing time
I'm thinking a person's gotta really abuse their engine to warrant changing @ 3000.

Actually, Amsoil has a program for 35,000 mile oil changes using their analysis for the oil condition and using their remote oil filter system. There have been cases where oil has been used for 50,000+ w/ regular analysis.

Uh, correction. A few have gone 250k on the same oil...... The By-pass filter system is tempting to install......

finally did it at 163420

yep changed it... GOD it was black as well oil... lol .. But seriously the guy told me that i need the engine to be flushed as well as the tranny.. He said its about 90 bucks for the engine flush... Humm ... well what a deal 19.95 for the oil change and a free car wash..lol .. I did notice a big difference in the engines ability to settle when idling and driving... Its smoother that is.. But for those out there, should i get it flushed and get the tranny flushed as well.. if so how much would that be...? well my next oil change wont be until 166420...
