stock spoiler

i really wanna know why nissan decided to make the spoiler on my 90 se out of a soft foam. what a joke. i went to the mall a week ago, and came back to my car, and there was a slash in the spoiler. i was f*ckin pi$$ed. (and still am) theres like nothing i can do to fix it. but i was just wondering why nissan decided to do this. i do not see any positives having a soft spoiler. but there are a lot of negatives. like the durability level, and it is dull and doesnt even match the rest of my car. ive tried to wax the spoiler, but it did nothing. i think i just need to get a stillen to replace it.

good question, the answer is probably like all the other things that make you say ???NISSAN???? cost

when I had my gxe painted It was painted lexus diamond pearl(expensive paint) the paint job was a 2500 job and I got that price cause I knew the guy, so it was a high quality paint job he told me that the spoiler would crak again and a month or two later little hair line cracks in it. thats why one of the first things I bought for my 92 se was a aftermarket uerathane wing.

Try looking online for stores that sells spoilers. If you like the stock look I think there are lots of places that sell reproduction OEM-style spoilers, although I don't know what they're made of.

Because it feels sooooo soft and supple when you grab it to close the trunk.

An answer will be hard for this one unles someone who worked in engineering for Nissan is around here. The same thing happened to me on my old 93 GXE as N34JZ and Maximan 190 said, when it was repainted it had hairline cracks in it and rust near the base. I really do miss that car and should have kept it do you guys agree the 3rd gens especially the 92-94 GXE's,SE too are a classy looking car.
